  1. I bought the wheel studs to replace the broken ones a couple of days ago. Christ, what project did I get myself into. Every video I watched was a simple remove the brake and the hub will pull right off. Not so with my Pathy. I removed every bolt on the wheel/Hub assembly and it ain't budging. This is the first 4wd I tinkered with the front wheels. Do I have to remove the center cap and pull out all those clips etc to get the hub to come off, or is it just rust welded on. I should have took some pics before work now that I think of it.
  2. i personally do not use a torque wrench to tighten my lug nuts, and I never heard of anyone who actually does. I tighten them "snug" like I have for the past 25 years of driving and tooling with cars. The last person to handle my front wheels was a tire shop a few months ago. I do not think that was it. One of the lugs were finger loose, 2 were broke, which makes me think someone was fooling with it in the middle of the night. I had an old Lincoln that had brittle lug bolts due to age, wear and tear. My Pathy is 26 years old and 300k miles, I'm wondering if it isn't getting to that point as well, I don't know.
  3. Sweet!! Thanks for the size also. It will make it easier.
  4. I was doing my marry go round last night of bleeding the brakes, and found my front pass. side had 2 broken lug bolts and one was finger loose. My question is where can I buy lug bolts at to replace them?
  5. I thought about this for the past few days. I have the 2 door . Getting my suit muddy on the way to work, hmmmmm, not sure about it.
  6. Awesome. I'll clean the garage out and get ready for a late night rebuild.
  7. Ran it dry of oil, engine started locking up on the freeway. Luckily near an Autozone. 5qts later, purrs like a kitten, smokes like a forest fire. Time to put some new gaskets on I think.
  8. I am running into several issues ALL surrounding around my TB and lines/hoses. I want to remove it and rebuild it. The reason I ask level of pain is because I work 6 days until late at night. I have a couple hours I could tinker before sleep. I need to know if this is going to be done in a couple hours or not. Haynes manual says to disconnect throttle cable from inside the truck, I'm wondering if that is necc. as I can unbolt it and slide a piece of plywood under it to work on it under the hood.
  9. I was just thinking, it may be a loose connection. As I said before, it hard starts sometimes, other times it will fire right up. Road and engine vibration could be shaking something loose.
  10. I ran the diagnostic, I got code 51 , injector circuit. Makes sense as it is hard starting sometimes. Anyone know more info on this code and what I need to do to begin fixing this issue?
  11. I reset the timing, the stuttering at 3k was worse before I reset the timing, still does it though, not in neutral but when I am driving. I will check codes Wed. when I have a free morning.
  12. Over the past few days my Pathy is taking a while to start, as in the engine turns but it won't fire up until 5 sec. or more has passed. And when it does it doesn't fire right up, it struggles. I haven't had time to look at the ECM yet, maybe wed morning I will have a chance. The engine started going south when I put it in the drink and drowned my ECM. I replaced it, the truck fired right up a couple weeks later, but at first the only issue I had was it won't go over 3k rpm when driving it. Now a few days ago the starting issue came up. Any clue to what's going on? I don't want to go crazy with this thing because it is going to be full on Lawn truck in 2 weeks. I'm not wheeling it any more, I basically just need it to start when I turn the key lol.
  13. Oh, and no it won't go fast 3000 rpm. I might shoot a video on the way to work
  14. I cleaned the maf early on. Filter is good. I will check codes in the morning. Not a bad idea.
  15. After putting my Pathy in the drink, I replaced the ECM, now it is stuttering at 3k rpm, it just jumps and won't go above that. What's the common issue with this stuttering?
  16. Since I was a kid I have always wanted this, VW Swimwagon. I am going to find one one day. The way I drive the Pathy, I think I think I own this already, haha.
  17. I will post pics but I took my flares off. I had bigger beefier flares. Looked cool, but I took them off in the garage one day to clean the line off the fender(bored) and the Pathy looked meaner. I am also a mudder, so they were hindering muh mud baths. So they do a great job keeping things inside the fenders.
  18. That's my size of choice. I like the 31x10.50. I always envy the look of the 12.50 but the skinnies have been good to me.The next monster I build will be a diff. story
  19. I finally installed my EBay-New ECU. Started right up after 3 weeks down. Pathy didn't like the swim I gave it. Started right up, then wouldn't go into gear. I had to start it in gear over and over to break the clutch or whatever loose. All the way home it was stuttering and running rough. When I got home an hour later I noticed the idle was at 600. My Pathy doesn't fare well below 1k rpm. So I reset the timing and raced off to work. Ran great, but a little hard to start. It turns over for about 5 seconds before it catches now. And sweet baby Jesus, the windows were closed the whole time it sat!!!Full of that yummy Florida swamp water. The smell......It will be me, a water hose, and some Dawn early in the morning. But my Pathy is back home, that makes meh happy.
  20. Received my ECU in the mail this morning. So excited. My poor Pathy has been down for a couple of weeks after I took it swimming. Diagnostics shows the ECU as being the only problem, hopefully it will work. Going to drive to where it is sitting, an hour from my house. Keeping my fingers crossed. I miss driving my rust bucket.
  21. Yea, I have 2 vehicles, the Pathy and an Audi A4. My A4 gets about 37mpg. I drive an hour to work, 2 total, 6 days a week. I put the Audi in the garage and drive the Pathy. Over twice as much gas but I just love my wobbly, slow, rusty, smelly multicolored Pathfinder. My wife says I'm crazy, and she is right.
  22. I almost went the Subaru route before I bought my Pathy. I was camping the week before and someone in the Campground had an Outback, jacked up, snorkeled, the whole nine. It was sweet. Went home then hit Craigslist. Seen my Pathy already equipped with rack, brush guard, and mud tires for $900. So here I am in Pathy Land!!!!!
