  1. Just an update: I went outside today and started the Pathy. Quick turn of the key and it fired right up. There almost no ticking or knocking from the motor today. But I still have a question. If I were to purchase a used motor would I need to search for a year specific donor? Or will any VQ35de auto motor work? I mean if a 350 chevy needs to be changed out we all know that any other 350 should fit right in. is it the same with my VQ35de ?? Forgive me if that was a stupid question... Still new to Nissans.. Chris
  2. Does anyone know of a decent place to buy a replacement VQ35DE motor for my Pathfinder?? Or maybe a quality rebuild kit?? My motor seems to be knocking way to badly these days. So bad in fact I had to start driving my Toyota truck again as a daily driver. The Pathfinder is a 2002 4X4 with auto tranny and the 3.5 VQ35DE powerplant. Thanks in advance... Chris
  3. I have been thinking about dealing strictly with Napa. They seem to have the best service and supply of the parts I need.
  4. Thanks for the info, What weight oil would be best for the next change? And what filter would be the best bet ?
  5. I have about 25 miles on this filter and oil, Oil is Castrol gxt 10w/30 and the filter is a Wix. Current temps in Nevada are in the high 40's-low 50's during the day and close to 20 at night. I have been hearing a lifter tick noise for about 6 months and thought the oil change would help. It didn't . Thats when I heard the louder knock, and decided to try an additive. Now when I first start the Pathfinder up i still hear the lifter tick and the other knock seems to gone. After it warms up the lifter tick is gone as well. The motor is right at 149,000... Im not sure how it was driven in the past, but since I have had it it's been driven to and from work on the freeway.. But every now and then I do like to air it out.. But Im no street racer when I drive.
  6. I know, but I dont have the $$$ for the replacement motror just yet. And I think that the previous owner had the same issue because when I changed the oil it was pretty thick as well. Just hope to buy myself a few more months so I can have the funds ready when it goes. $4000.0 is a bit much for a second motor.
  7. I replaced the o-rings on my oil cooler and added a bit of Lucas oil additive to help get rid of the knock that showed up 2 weeks ago. And also replaced all the bolts that hold my plastic skid plate thingy on. Saturday I have plans on taking the running boards off. Then wash and wax the poor thing.
  8. I would love to have one of those tri-banders in the truck. But the Pathfinder will probably just get a dual bander. Dont really have plans on taking it off road much, thats what the Toyota truck is for. Plus the Pathy seems to have developed a knock on the way home from the tire shop. Hope it can be a quick fix.
  9. I bought 4 new tires for mine. And did an oil change. I did however come across evidence of a leak. Will have to investigate it tomorrow when it warms back up. Any ideas what the culprit might be ??
  10. Ham Operator here as well. I really like the digital side of the hobby. Paket - Amateur Television ..
  11. I only have a 2mtr Ham radio in my truck. Once I get a few bills paid off I will probably upgrade and put a dualbander or maybe a tribander in the Pathfinder. I just like the feeling of having more than 40 channels to talk on. Oh .. Yes I am an Amateur (ham) Radio Operator since 1992.. It's more than a hobby.
  12. Does anyone know where I can find the font used on the graphics for the 2002 roof rack? When I bought my Pathfinder I only had the lettering on one side of the beast. I'd love to get new ones or cut them myself on my vinyl cutter. My other thought was to just get the rack powder coated flat black and leave the letters off.
  13. Me while on vacation in Western Ireland 2012. (County Clare-Ireland)
  14. But without the whole front end moving all the time (less drag) I should see some improvement correct? I plan on doing this once things frikken warm back up around here. It was 0.5 degrees "F" when I got home last night. Only 6.2 degrees now.
  15. Could I please get a few part numbers for the hubs that are known to work on the 2002 Pathfinder SE model? Id love to improve my mileage in any way I can.
