  1. Hi, My 2002 petrol V6, has a leak from the cylinder head, at the back as looking into the engine. On the ramp I can see a small teardrop of green coolant and evidence of a leak when looking up into the block/head. It's not losing coolant, the level is full and steady. The engine has done 150,000km's. Advice please, is there an easy fix, a mechanic tells me this is a common problem with Nissan engines caused by corrosion. I will have to travel 500-1000km to get this fixed, I live remote. i'm in Western Australia.
  2. Thanks Towncivilian. I live in the desert,on the coast, this is my fishing and beach car. taking my Patrol down for a service September I'll take the Pathfinder and get it serviced aswell. The Pathfinder has 150,000km's on it now, any advice on things to get checked would be appreciated. almost got bogged in sand yesterday but the lo range was up to getting me out, good considering the tyres aren't decent T/A's only cheap A/T's.
  3. Thanks Towncivilian, they were all 1/2 turn or more loose, oil level dip stick's not tight either, needs a new o ring I think.
  4. Hello, I have a 2002 Pathfinder, petrol V6. It's used for 4X4 around where I live, mostly sand, beach and tracks rarely goes on tarmac, I use auto,hi and lo ranges. Coming back home this evening as I shut the windows I smelled a faint whiff of burnt oil. No leaks that I can see but the top of the engine LHS does appear to have some oil on it. Not a huge ammount almost like an oil mist is settling on the top cover? Some advice please. I'm a 5 hour drive from my nearest dealer. No other problems surprisingly good 4X4. Al
  5. G'Day. I live in the desert, by the sea in remote NW Western Australia. I have just purchased a second 4X4, a 2002 petrol Pathfinder with the 2wd/Auto/4wdHi/4wdLo. It will be used for getting to the beach across dirt/sand tracks for fishing and camping. I would like to know it's capabilities. I won't be "rock crawling" or deep water crossing. My other 4X4 is a Patrol which I have had to engage 4X4 low to get me out of sand a few times. It is standard with no mods. I live remote so have to be able to depend on my truck to get me home. So far it's great on the tracks in Auto and 4wdHi but I would like to know how good is the 4wdLo ? Obviously it's a lot lighter than my Patrol but how good is the Lo ratio ? BeeWA
