    Cardone cv's

Thanks, I've got the Rockford boots for the inners, thinking I should have ordered the outers also and have them all done. Can't wait to get these assembled and test it all out.

    fuel injectors

I grew up on Hamilton Airforce Base, how was moving from the west coast to the mid-west? Some days I really fantasize about a slower lifestyle.

    Cardone cv's

Today tore down the original CV's. Removed inner boots and disassembled the joints. None of the pieces showed any signs of wear. I put everything in a solvent tank, so we will see what comes out tomorrow.

    Cardone cv's

^^my plan exactly^^ thanks again, really I had heard this before buying the cv's, and should have heeded the advice. Kudos.
  5. My own personal experience, AC UCA's, SAW t-bars, cranked until there is about a index fingers gap between the droop snubber and the bump stop, so 1.5 to 2 in. Aftermarket cv's bound immediately, I will report back with stock cv's rebuilt. This was on a moderate trail, nothing extreme.
  6. I guess it fixed itself?! Thanks mods!
  7. MAX, that thing is the perfect height! Get that WD21 all SASsy now.

    Cardone cv's

Have to agree with Tungsten here (and it burns!), but yeah, I'm definitely going to rebuild the stock shafts, found a set with 56k on them that I will pick up for spares. I do have a small (1.5) lift up front, but they should not have bound up that badly.

    Cardone cv's

These were the new ones, cardone select. I will get pics once I remove them.

    Cardone cv's

So both the boots on my cv's were torn when I purchased my 1992 pathy. I bought replacement inner boots to rebuild them, then changed my mind and decided to go with new shafts from cardone. On a run this last weekend, the drivers side cv started making sucking/clicking noises about 100yds into the trail. By a 1/4mi it sounded like the precision section of the Seattle symphony. At this point I decided to finish out the day because there was no saving the cv. By days end the passenger side also had a ridiculous amount of play in it. The drivers side inner boot is torn. These ate the worst cv's I've encountered. Just thought I would save someone else the trouble. I will be rebuilding the stock shafts and seeing what I can do about a refund on these.
  11. Gen2 X 6 on 4.5. Titan 6 on 5.5, Gen2 xterra, frontier, or V6 pathy will not fit. Armada and Titan fit with some work.
  12. Tapatalk is working great for me, but now that I have updated it, at the end of my post it says "I am here" with my geographic location. How do I turn that off? Really not happy with that function! --- I am here: *LINK REMOVED*
  13. ^^visibility!^^. Just wheeled my 1992 pathy for the first time. Only one moderate trail, the rest of the day was spent on "most difficult" trails. I'm never going back to a new rig. It was so much narrower than my 06, the same trails seemed so wide. The rear flexed so much the tires took the coating off the frame. Flat out, these things kick ass! Very impressed. --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?n4pfhf
  14. After doing a bit of suspension tweaking I've got a bit of / going on in the front end. In going to have a professional alignment next week, but we have a wheeling trip this weekend. How can I get a little more camber, do I add shims to the front of the UCA's? Not going for perfect or permanent, just close enough for the weekend. I wouldn't even bother but the first trail is stupid steep, and shaped like a V, the whole way up. Probably not going to help things. I'm still new to this IFS setup, any help is appreciated.
  15. Again my 2c. Wheeling a 28k rig sucks. Every dent is a tragedy. That and things still break, they are just far more expensive to fix. Front wheel bearings on a gen2? They are not serviceable and are part if the hub, $250 part. Want to lift it? Any spacer above 2in up front and the UCA will come into contact with the coil bucket. UCA $450, want to replace the coil overs? I just installed a $2000 lift on a 2007 xterra OR, it doesn't have anywhere near the clearance as my wd21. If it is going to see a lot of trail time, go with an older rig. A newer x will run about $450 a month, think of the updates and mods that kind of coin can buy. My days of wheeling new trucks are over.
  16. 32x11.50s fit with a PML on the 1st gen, throw a locker in the rear and start saving for steering upgrades. They wheel great with good aftermarket support. Haven't wheeled along side an R50, but I've owned a built gen2 xterra and the gen1s were every bit as capable. We will see how the 92 pathy does this weekend v
  17. N/A tunes are not as critical as FI tunes, but if you are going to change out the size of the MAF housing, it may be a good idea to at least chat with a local tuner. You said money is tight, but tuning on trial by error can end up rather spendy. As far as getting a baseline dyno, absolutely. Not just for HP # but also your AF ratios, that will give a lot of insight to where gains may be made. I've been curious as to tuning options for this engine, so I will be following this thread with interest. Do have a chat with a tuner, they are car nerds just like the rest of us and must do want to help!
  18. I had a 1992 bronco. A jeep XJ pulled out in front of me in a snow storm in Pullman WA. I t-boned home and crunched the drivers side fender and headlight on my truck. XJ was a total loss. I had an appointment with the body shop the week after Christmas break. I went home to Tacoma, then on the return trip my one good headlight went out, at 9pm, on I-90, 10mi before Cle-Elum which is in the middle of a mountain pass in the middle of nowhere. I was not prepared to sleep in the truck so u spent a very cold (15deg) night huddled in the back seat, running the truck every 30 min to keep it warm enough inside. I've kept heavy blankets in all of my trucks since.
  19. Lost that same bolt on the passenger side, had to re-tap the threads as they were stripped. Also noticed my idler arm is shot, could that have been the cause?
  20. You would be looking at 3in suspension lift, 3in body lift and a whole lot of trimming to fit, also need the proper back spacing.
  21. New battery, one more un-fun thing to check off.
  22. ^^ I'm running 1st gen xterra wheels. Not sure they are ideal as I get just a little rub at full lock, but... real trucks rub right?!^^
  23. It's the AC 3in lift with 33x10.5 km2s.
  24. You're doing a SAS at the same time, so everything can be passenger side drop right? Sounds like the right time to do it!
  25. This is a little hard to describe. I use a fender mount, that is screwed into the roof in between the hatch and the roof. It's centered on the hatch and with a 3ft fire stick we get great reception. Looks kind of like an RC car!
