  1. Looked at a beat-up VG33 R50 that someone dumped near my dad's office. 335k on the clock! Probably not the ideal engine donor.

Looks like it's pretty well done, too.

  2. Ever wondered how the electric variable shocks work? I tore one down tonight (this morning?) to find out. Pretty simple and not quite what I was expecting. Video to come.

If you've found a way to put the gas back in, let me know!

      SpecialWarr

We would need to figure out the oil volume first but the bottom is welded on and there is most likely a spot to fill the shock with nitrogen under it. Almost everyone uses a needle or a type of schraeder valve for that.

I didn't find any valve for direct filling. I'm not sure how they filled it at the factory. Seems like you could drill a hole and solder a valve stem into it though.

  3. Well, I'll just get these torsion bars levelled out tonight and suddenly it's 6AM. And no, it's still not quite level.

  4. I learned two things today. One thing is that the factory spoiler piece is tougher than it looks. The other thing is that the same can be said of apple trees. Now to see if I can find the screws!

  5. I'm up all night till the sun, we're up all night to get some, she's up all night for good fun, I'm up all night to fix Pathy.

  9. Anyone seen the 2014 Heap Cherokee? I can't believe I'm saying this, but it makes the Juke look good.

I like it. (For the class) good capability, good mileage, and I'm sorry but if no manufacturer tried anything new, we'd never be anywhere.

  10. Stumbled on these, anyone in eastern WA need 31s? http://wenatchee.craigslist.org/pts/3719659918.html

  11. Anyone know if the rims from an '03 R50 will fit a WD21?

      6 x 139.7mm (6 x 5.5in) is the spacing, 100mm (3.93in) is the center bore, hope that helps!

  12. Didn't want to gravedig the thread on electric supercharging... but this is relevant:

  13. Looking at the hood vents... anybody cut the holes out for better airflow? Any point? They just seem a little useless as-is.

The vents are there for looks.

    3. nunya

      nunya

any extra airflow will help underhood temps, may not be enough to notice though just making the front hood ones breath more. Since putting a normal hood back on mine for now though I have noticed a little more climb in my temp gauge, but my 'standard' hood has a bit more of a breathing hole than a couple tiny plastic vents

You know they made 4-71 style blowers for vg30's Nunya. I suspect that white fowl could use one.

  14. Inflated from 26 psi to 36... haven't driven it yet, but if the massive reduction in sidewall bulge is anything to go by, it should handle a little better now!

30-32 psi seems to be the most optimal for 31s

I ran 40 in my 30x9.5s. They road great but they lasted 20k.

    4. Slartibartfast

      Slartibartfast

I had them at around 30, but the sidewall bulge in the front was worrying me.

  15. Pulled out my airbox resonator today. Inside I found three pieces of corn. Something's been in this truck.

  19. just watched Christine. So, pop quiz: a killer car is chasing you. Do you a) find a building to hide in, B) seek out natural cover, or c) run in a straight line down the middle of a road?

I just saw the last half of that movie like two weeks ago. Pretty good movie adaptation, but it had like a B-rate feel to it. The whole time I was wishing my truck would heal itself like that. that would be heaven

I know, right? If my project car could do that, we'd be done by now.
