I don't want to start a war on Toyota or anything, but it seems like ALL their cars have cooling/head gasket issues.

hey what's up with that 300zx? I knew it was in some sort of collision, but I wasn't aware it wasn't running. Much less aware that it had been out of commission for some months now.

I salvaged it from my neighbour who crashed it, then drove it 800 miles to the next province with no front bumper, sucked up water onto the maf and pooched it so he limped it home at 2500 rpm, then he parked it. I completely restored it from the crash and replaced all the missing pieces and she fired right up! still working out a few kinks it runs strong but idles a little high and has a slight miss. checking codes tonight i suspect the o2s are shot and maybe the power transistor unit for...

  4. Picked up a 1993 pathfinder SE with every single damn option available except heated seats. 5 Spd manual and it's an american truck from texas so 100% rust free! Pretty rare up here in BC, canada. Picked it up for the girlfriend as a fixer upper, so far 800$ spent in total including truck and tow and we got almost everything to fix it up. just tune up parts left to go! stoked! we will both have pathys to go wheeling now . :)

If you don't know when it was last changed, just do a complete fluid exchange and overfill through the shifter hole to ensure proper capacity. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/2621-manual-transmission-tsb/

Put on the 31s today, refurbished the rear discs (yes it has rear discs!) I'm jealous.... cleaned it up, swapped power steering pump...no more strong ARM!! Needs tie rods and a center link, and a timing belt kit and she should be good to go! :) I figure 1200-1300 total cost after truck, tow, and all parts, and this will be one nice solid truck!!!

  5. Welded up some proper exhaust hangers for my custom 2.5 inch exhaust today. Now it's in there nice and tight. Also welded up the floor of my sisters Chevette.... one of the front seat bolts tore off bringing a 3x3 piece of sheet metal with it...sigh....

      Nefarious

??? All you have to do is replace the plastic guides with metal guides per the factory service bulletin. VERY EASY fix. other than that the VH45DE is better in every single way. Plus 330hp 310 lb ft stock power and 400+ with a tune can't really be beat on a fully forged and built/balanced from the factory NA motor.

    3. Tungsten

      Tungsten

By all means if they have metal guides available go for it.

    4. Nefarious

      Nefarious

Yeah they are about 60 bucks on ebay. 100 or so from the dealer. I'm sure Alkorahil can hook me up though :)

  9. Feeling like an uber lucky man right now. My other half bought me a 91 pathfinder SE as my college graduation present and it was a total surprise! 1991 SE with LSD, rear discs. The oh so hard to find 4" trailmaster lift, all main suspension bushings done, black exterior with gray interior and its got a sunroof and tire carrier! Oh yeah... it has a completely IMMACULATE frame with ZERO rust that still has its full powdercoat on the frame. Garage kept. Now to swap the VG33E, body li...

      Nefarious

Oh man so nice. I just pulled about 500 miles of driving in the last few days travelling around in over a foot of snow. so epic, i mean really. man its so nice to have some real power in the rig now. i picked up a tow line and hooked it to my rear bumper and was pulling cars up really steep hills and out of ditches for days. so much fun!!!! the house i was staying at is on this crazy steep hill and most trucks could barely make it up and i was towing cars up it!!!...

  11. To stay 15x10 steel or use the 15x8 alloys i just got..... would i really have that much more power/gas mileage????

    1. OldSlowReliable

      OldSlowReliable

the 15x8's hold a better bead IMO, especially on super low pressures for sand/such. I like my 15x8 with my 33x12.50s alot.

    1. Nefarious

      Nefarious

only 77k KILOMETERS on the odo... does the regular pathy auto or 5 speed bolt up to the diesel? or would i need to import a transmission??

      Slartibartfast

This is the only pic I could find of a Terry trans: http://www.sulit.com.ph/index.php/view+classifieds/id/2228240/Nissan+Terrano+(Automatic+Transmission)#imageGallery I dunno what the Pathy transmissions look like though, couldn't find an end-shot in the FSM.

  13. Installed the oem steering damper pin from Nissan 19$ and used a Monroe shock for 55$ and Lordco hardware for 3$... Grand total of 77$ and wow... Truck feels so much better driving down the road with 33x12.5 and 15x10 steel rims.. Almost feels like a fullsize now haha!

      Trogdor636

I'm assuming thats one from Home Depot correct?

    2. Nefarious

      Nefarious

yeah i just returned it actually as canadian tire had the mig pak 180 on sale for 629, down from the 699 weld pak 180 from home depot. they are both exactly the same in every respect except the mig pak 180 also comes with an extra welding shield the other pack didn't have. so got a hand held welding shield for a friend as well as saved 70 bucks which bought me an auto shading helmet and new gloves/chipping hammer at princess auto. win!!! the 240v plug should be wired up today,...

    3. Nefarious

      Nefarious

stoked i already had the proper wire run in the house so it just required 27.35$ in electrical parts and a buddy electrician. cheapest part of the whole process so far getting the 240v plug

  16. picked up my wire lock pins for 4.49 for all 4. detachable rear seat mod tonight.:) getting ready for camping!

    1. rwd5021

      rwd5021

  18. well my lady is officially a pathy driver now! her truck is road worthy after many hours of work and many parts replaced.400$ for truck, 900$ in parts and fluids. truck is near perfect now with zero rust and runs like a dream. fixed up, tuned up and all maintenance done. thanks for the help with my questions everyone! love this forum.

Just passed emissions testing! With flying colours, I might add! Previous owner failed the test nearly 6 years ago! And it has been sitting for the past 4 or 5 years. This thing is back from the dead. Nox reading was 300% under allowable and HC was 200% under allowable. It's a thing of beaty!

  19. Well, VG33E swap number 2 under way! My other halfs 93 Path SE is up on the chopping block next... Going to be staying a lot more stock with this swap and using Mr.510's crank adapter. Thanks Dave! Will be doing another build thread once all the parts are together!

    1. Trogdor636

      Trogdor636

He still produces those? He hasn't been on the board in so long I wondered.

    2. Nefarious

      Nefarious

yup he has an ebay store. he mentioned he was no longer active here. not sure which forums he is on now but i know he still makes them as mine is in the mail!

    3. Wroth

      Wroth

How did you find it? I looked for one for a month and a half, messaged the ebay store for Mr.510 (Canada based?) and never got a response. I had to go have a local shop make me one, and I ended up getting three since they were so hard to find!

absolutely!!! Getting mounted on 15x10 steels that I custom powdercoated at work. zinc-epoxy primer, then gunmetal, then clearcoat. 3 stage powdercoat! lol

  21. man 16$ for ultra low profile bump stops made a huge difference in my ride. i have down travel again! woo! smoothed out the ride huge on the road.. just some balljoint spacers and upper control arms and i might have some real front flex!

      Nefarious

awesome dude, thanks. looking forward to it!

  23. Finally fixed the hinge bushings in my spare tire carrier. Wow what a pain.. upper hinge pin was easy, bottom one took some serious help to get out. Got er all done and no more rattle going over bumps!! Finally opens and closes properly too. It even opens itself once the latch is released! So cool ...

    1. Tungsten

Don't forget to add zerk fittings and keep that thing greased.

    2. Nefarious

      Nefarious

yeah thats not a bad idea. Although it does have the little needle fitting spot, I would be a lot more inclined to do it if I had a zerk on there. lol

  24. Well the crappy aftermarket keyless entry my truck came with just failed and my door locks are all mismatched and broken. yay for no access to my truck. Guess it's time to finally hit the JY and get some locks with a key that works and a compustar or viper installed. Haven't been looking forward to this day. lol

    1. RJSquirrel

      RJSquirrel

    1. adamzan

      adamzan

I would not use an aftermarket rear main seal. The other seals are fine though.

    2. Nefarious

      Nefarious

yeah it doesnt come with rear main, its still good and i dont plan on pulling the motor or trans until i have to, but it does have the cam seals and front main,
