  1. I had this exact problem and was able to get a replacement flange from autozone for $5.
  2. Thanks all for your comments and a special thanks to ahardb0dy for the part name and the beginning of my next job.
  3. Thanks for the comments, sorry for the inconvenience but please see the site I just created with the pics. Leak Pics or http://antifreezeleak.shutterfly.com/pictures/
  4. I apologize I can't seem to attach my pics.
  5. Good morning, I was looking over things under the hood and noticed a small antifreeze leak. Upon closer inspection, I noticed the leak was coming from the lower end of the throttle body near the spring assembly. Anyone know what this piece is? I have a 2000 LE 4WD. I’ve attached 2 pics below. The first shows the general area with the leak circled and the second is a close up of the piece in question. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  6. Success!! Finished the job early this morning and my pathfinder runs fine. I'd like to thank this forum for all the information since without it I would have been stuck and probably would have had to pay someone. A special thanks also to Precise1 for the assistance while I was up to my elbows in grease, Thanks man! After replacing the timing belt, water pump, thermostat, bypass hose, upper/lower radiator hoses, belts, and spark plugs I spent around $300 in parts. I figure I saved around $700 for the same job at a shop since I was getting quotes for around $700 for just the timing belt and water pump. My advice for anyone attempting this project is to TAKE YOUR TIME. This is not a difficult job but it was definitely tedious and time consuming. I started last Friday and just finished today (Thursday) working 2 to 5 hours in the evenings. Do your research up front on forums like this and take plenty of pictures for reference. The service manual is helpful but lacks procedural detail so be prepared to think things through. For parts, definitely shop around and ask for any and all discounts. I found that simply inquiring saved me a lot. Also, I'd like to give credit to O'Reilly auto parts for loaning me tools (which they regularly do) which saved me from buying a crank pulley. Good luck!
  7. Sorry if I was redundant. Went looking through some other forums and found a post where I got some tips that helped with the number 6 spark plug. Got my fingers crossed as I may just concur this job this weekend.
  8. OK, I think I got it. I will also be replacing the water pump, thermostat, tensioner, belts, hoses and spark plugs. Not sure about the cam seals. I’m afraid to mess with the cams any more then I have to and from what I’ve been reading they seem like they can be a pain. They seem fine anyway but any advice on getting the number 6 spark plug? I can’t see or even feel the thing, all the other were a breeze. Thanks again for the help! I've always done work on my cars but nothing this intense. With sites like this I'll be able to keep my fleet running well without the need to empty my pocket at the dealer or elsewhere!
  9. Thanks Precise1 for the reply. When I count the teeth between the cam punch marks there are 40. There are 43 between the left cam and the crank. So if I understand you correctly, I should simply mark the position of the cams (in case they move) and install the belt using the marking on the belt to align with the punch marks on the cams and ensure that the teeth count remains the same (40 from cam to cam and 43 between left cam and crank). Sorry if I seem overly paranoid, I just paid the pathfinder off last month and the last thing I want is the ruin the motor. It runs great and I'm simply trying to put some of the car payment back into the thing. Thanks again.
  10. Hi all, this post has been extremely helpful! I'm in the middle of replacing my timing belt on my 2000 and have a few questions before I proceed. I've read post that state the cams should line up but mine don't. My right cam is aligned but the left is off a few teeth to the right. I have not removed the belt yet and I have the number 1 piston at TDC but was wondering if I should: A - Remove the belt and manually adjust the left cam punch mark to the punch mark on the rear belt cover B - Install the belt and line up the marks by the rear belt cover and the crank punch mark. C - Mark the Right, left cams and crank and install the belt. See pics (left cam off and right aligned respectively) below for additional info. Any suggesting would be greatly appreciated.
