  1. Update: my z cars engine is finally done so, I have put the pathy's new heart on the stand and begun to prep it for assembly. I haven't touched the truck itself since I have pushed it outside but its getting ready to come back in. I also picked up another H233b open rear end from my buddy Chris. He only charged me 50 bucks for it so, I thought it was a solid deal. I am going to use this as the basis for my solid axle swap for the front.
  2. Good to know! I am in the process of putting in a vg30et into my pathfinder right now but was curious how it was going to hold up to the new found power.
  3. This thing is awesomesauce!! Plus its vg30et powered! Your rocking the stock auto or 5 speed?
  4. Dash was not hard to take out but just dont forget to take off the trim on the pillars as it will interfere and you can possibly break it. So, be really careful and have a buddy help ya lift it out. Oh, and the "coupes" are older 300zx's often reffered to by there bastard child chassis code; z31. The grey one is the 8th z31 that I have owned over the years and the silver one was number 7 but has exchanged hands quite a few times since I have owned it, hence its very "ricey" condition now. Thankfully, its back in my posession and safe here at my house away from the ricer/driftor kids. lol! I wanna have this thing running by the meet but I am not sure if this turbo is good now. I rebuilt it about two or three years ago now when I owned the car but just before we pulled the engine it was smoking really good and doesnt appear to be related to the engine. Anyway, where I am locating the turbo it will be easy to access either way.
  5. CARNAGE! Found this in the oil pan after I took it off to inspect all what was broken inside. NOT GOOD! Block is still god though I think so, i might keep it. Need to inspect it some more. my rods bent, lol! whats left of a piston skirt heres what i worked on all weekend though Engine should be going in tonight
  6. yeah, man I am around all weekend! I had to push the pathy out for the weekend though because i need to power wash it and I had to work on my z before summer is over. I have two z's in the drive way right now that are getting swapped so its a z weekend for sure, lol! Comeon by tomorrow for sure if ya want always got beer and down to chat about cars. peace.
  7. Thanks! As if all this work wasnt enough my friend called me and asked me if I wanted to by his old SAS setup.........hmmmmmmmm. So, even after i have the engine out it continued to fight me! Took like an hour to get those damn torque converter bolts off because theyre recessed due to the shape of the flexplate, WTF nissan? I knew I needed an offset wrench but I figured with the engine out i could handle it without one which I could but since the engine only rotated so far I still could barely get to all of them. Does anyone know which specific offset wrenches work the best? Thanks guys!
  8. need to bolt this stuff back up so i can roll it ouside and pressure wash it but this is how i got the engine out without taking off the torque converter Anyway, I have to source some more parts and finish my relocate pipe on the engine going in, power wash this things underside and engine bay, then tidy up some wiring, weld the patch in the hole for the crossover, and re-assemble the interior. Now, I just hope the tranny will hold up to the new found power. lol!
  9. interior shots beer break! the reason for the beer break, lol! this is where the hole is cut for clearancing the crossover pipe crossover pipe turbueno! out with the old this thing was such a pain in the ass! empty lonely engine bay
  10. PICS before i pulled the engine bye AIV system! my oil pan has a zit??? what? welded crank key *facepalm* clearance for welded crank key *facepalm* x2
  11. Are there any pics of that h233b axle modified to be a font axle? I wanna see basically how he adapted the knuckles mostly. This is something I was planning to make and has anyone done this with a C200?
  12. yeah, I am shooting to have this thing done here soon. I don't really have anything drive able right now except my s-10 and I hate driving that thing because it randomly like to run on 3 cyls. sometimes....... I also need to upload pics of the progress, lol!
  13. I don't mind the questions at all, I prefer people ask before finding out the hardway like I did. I will say that a hammer and a cutoff wheel will solve all your clearance issues. I wanna say you have to be careful about your wiper arm linkage, but I am not positive. Its been ahwile..
  14. They were pretty close but still had room we could actually remove them without pulling the engine. It was alot harder than doing it in a z31 but it wasn't bad.
  15. Did ya take a look at the product I make? I wouldn't waste my time putting in the effort I do if it was pointless. Lots of people have done their own flow testing on the heads, LIM, and plenum but depending on what you're doing with the engine determines whether or not it is beneficial. For instance in a boosted application which primarily my customers are this manifold works best due to the shear volume of air increase as well. I am not saying a pathy intake is a bad idea all I am saying is the one i produce retains the most stock installed features, increases volume, and increases air speed(key part to making power). Here in this pic you can see how close the plenum is to the firewall. Unfortunately I don't have any closeups but basically the firewall is pushed back quite a bit.
  16. Pretty badly from what I remember, you can hammer it out but I am not a fan of hammering firewalls. My first vg30et install was done that way in a 2wd HB and I didn't like the way it looked at all. When I get home tonight I will dig up some pics of that truck and see if I can find any of the interference.
  17. Oh I am aware they flow better in stock form but not better than my gutted ones or the CNC ported ones I offer. I am going to be running a later model pathy intake myself more for clearance reasons than anything else. The z31 plenum comes into the firewall on the trucks and pathy's.
  18. It would be your name; my friends sister called me K-Y and it kind of stuck for a few years. lol!
  19. Give me a holla then, lol! I make gutted intakes for the 300zx so if ya need one on the cheap lemme know. As a matter of fact I am looking to ditch the one that's on my car now for cheap. It is getting a different turbo setup and intake setup this year. You can check out the intakes I make at www.allthingsz.com and its under gutted plenums for the z31.
  20. I would love to get this thing running but man is it a PITA to get this engine out, lol! Got it out last night after dropping the diff out. In that process I found LOTS of things needing to be replaced and I also messed up one of my CV axles as well, I think I popped the knuckle out of the cup. Anyway, every tuesday night is garage night if locals want to come by and drink beer. I don't have a ton of room in the garage but I still get work done. 3 kyles eh? I think one of them even has my old nick name too, lol!
  21. Lol! You have probly blown past my house a bunch of times. I live RIGHT off lewis river rd. with all the nissans in front of my house.
  22. Its funny how low I fly over at z31p nobody recognizes my name when I register on other baords. I recognize a couple of ya from there!
  23. Well, that's good to know at least! I have the front diff out and am now ready to pull this sucker off the tranny. I'll take pics if there is any additional carnage to report, lol!
  24. Im in woodland actually! Not far at all from you! Thanks for the warm welcome guys!! Oh and I am changing out the engine in this thing for a vg30et but thats another thread, lol!
  25. Getting ready to pull the engine out of my 87 pathy automagic and the PO has managed to lockup the bottome end on this engine. Is it safe to pull the engine out with the torque converter still attached? Someone told em these style lock onto the pumpcase to be driven......I have never experienced this with other nissan autos so this seems odd to me......any ideas?
