  1. Those monroe shocks are garbage, ran them on a few applications.. never panned out. Especially with multiple bumps. Pathfinder springs are soft from the factory and if your pathfinder has done some hauling or towing, they are probably sagged out. Get better shocks and newer springs.
  2. Not much... already tried to be frugal that route when reconditioning my R50 from my WD21 parts
  3. I work at a dealer... want to see oe pictures/discriptions, can see them at www.mossynissanpowayparts.com and if you decide to patronize my business order from www.nissanpartscheap.com and get 20% off list. If you want the actual part#'s let me know and I can list them here.
  4. When I bought my 96 with 145k on it, it was about quarter gallon low on the radiator... no idea where it went. Maybe it was just low?
  5. Wear is the primary reason to replace tires. Anything below 4/32 is getting ready to replace. 2/32 is unsafe. Secondary reason is age/dry rot. There is no legal cutoff to how old a tire can be, but 6 years is usually when a tire starts to fail. Safety counsel advises not to go over 10 years on tires. There should be DOT numbers stamped on the side wall. The 4 digits tell you when the tire was made... if it ends in 1212 the tire was made the 12th week of 2012, 5001 50th week of 2001. Etc...
  6. Happy happy fun times ahead. After removing the bars, it's going to be a capital B getting those old bushings out.
  7. If you've got Poly. You've got squeaks. Drive faster. Shock option... I've got remote reservoir Bilsteins.. just sayin... they're unbolted ready to go.
  8. Strip back some wire, feed it through the connector. Crimp/Solder the connector and pull it back into the socket.
  9. Yeah. It's crazy how minimal they need... my only concern is non op (allthough current) going to registered but assumed to fail smog then have expired reg.
  10. Just found out I can retire the car for $1000 to the state... tried to sell it for $800 as-is with pink, no takers. Parted out a few items, but it's going bbye. Sorry guys. Save the WD21 if you can.
  11. Replaced the lower links last weekend, what a PITA. Well at least the first nut/bolt I tried were... the other 3 were easy. Breaker bar, bottle jacks, lube and cursing didn't cut it. Went to the store and bought the biggest torque rated impact gun they had... 800 ft/lb. Got home and it still didn't break it free. Even tried jacking up the break bar to use the weight of the truck to break it free. No go. Basically after 2-3 hours of effing with it and heading to the store, a breaker bar on the bolt head and an impact on the nut it broke free. I'm worn out and bruised. Going to spend this weekend recovering and parting out the WD21. Then next weekend I attack the upper links. They don't look fun.
  12. Wow... not being able to tell the difference between 1 and 9 sounds wrong. Selling it as an "adjustable" shock with no adjustment? Maybe they were defective or maybe a gimmick? The RS shocks were around forever and proven. Wonder what brought on the XL project? Good to know that they didn't bottom out. I'm thinking the rear of pathfinders in general are just bouncy, even with my revalved reservoir shocks I still had the bounce. Much more dampened, but still bouncy. Spending time under the pathfinder this weekend I can see the tight quarters we're working with. I could see how the rubber could deflect and allow the oversize body to impact the panhard bar mount under torque or hitting a rock face or whatever obstacle allows it to flex. If it does dent, I'll be calling 4x4 parts and we'll cross that bridge then. I'll let y'all know how it goes when we're all done.
  13. Those do look beefy, but if you look at the online album posted above... the Rancho is one of the biggest bore shocks I've seen on a street car. Pretty riduculous.
  14. Here's a link to my online album for this R50 P.O.R.N.2 build: FACEBOOK ALBUM
  15. Haha, another WD21 convert... the ladies do dig the R50 interior over the old WD21. My wife was ok with ours as it is a 4dr, but an 88 2dr would be tough. Especially with carseats (which we do). $900? What a score. I wish I had paid that for mine, but mines super clean so I can't complain (aside from being broke). Rancho's a good brand and I'm sure 4x4parts would stand behind their product, I asked a 1,000,001 questions before pulling the trigger after reading about the issues. Guy said it shouldn't be an issue and if there was an issue to contact them and they will rectify it. I prefer same brand all four corners too, seems balanced (in my head). I guess I could live with knowing the shocks were different brands, but would paint them all the same just because... Lol. I didn't want the KYB's because KYB does nothing offroad for cars that I'm aware of. I know they've made forks/shocks for dirtbikes and mountain bikes, but they are a road car company and I'm sure the pathfinder shock was built for luxury and not for performance off road. I'm hoping to get them in this weekend or worst case by the end of the month... I will let everyone know for sure.
  16. They are indeed the RS999112 part numbers. When you say these were undervalved, what was the issue? Would they bottom out to easy or rebound like a crazy pogo stick? As far as denting the body, I could see that being an issue... but would ask a few more questions about the vehicle... we're the links fresh or old and were you runnning the rear swaybar connected or not? Do we know if the 1-9 settings are rebound, compression or both? Even if it did dent one time, did the piston stroke still work and was it leaking? Thanks for the tip on the washers. I'll pick some flat washers up and lube the bushings.
  17. They are Rancho RS9000XL. The stamped body says body side down only. I could see how inverse mounting would make it easier to change, but would not want to take the chance of damaging the shaft from trail debris causing a leak. Yeah, the oversize body is a little concerning on the right side... have to check it out. Hopefully the rear swaybar keeps it from over extending when wheeling.
  18. Got box 2 of 2 from 4x4parts, which had the springs today. I'll take more photos when we work on it and upload/link them on here. Damn springs weigh a ton. Trying to find a low cost alternative for the front strut mounting stuff. I'd like to use new mounts/bearings etc.. but even at my employee cost, I'm still $200-300 bucks deep in strut mounts OE. Any good aftermaket sources for that stuff? I am excited for the Rancho struts as they have been durable enough on our Titans we see here at work and it's gotta be better than an off the shelf sensa-crap or whatever brand of road shock/strut you can think of. The piston diameter on the front struts appears to be much larger than the OE one. I'm very curious how the rear Rancho shocks do, but feel confident they were the right choice for the rear. These things are massively large diameter body. The 9 way adjustable shock will be very useful for me. On the WD21 I found the rear end rebound/damping to be the weakest point when beating the trail or washes. The rear would always pogo stick, even with the reservoir Bilstein 7100's... allthough the Bilsteins were heaven sent over the cheapo blue napa reflexs. To adjust the Bilsteins I'd have to take em in and have them revalved or change the fluid viscosity or try just increasing/decreasing the nitrogen charge to find a balance, but that involves crawling and nitrogen. Hoping I can just hop out, lay down change a few click and carry on until I find the ideal number setting. I'm no stranger to modding Nissan vehciles. I don't feel the need to post a resume here, but I've been working for a Nissan dealership parts dept for over a decade now and working/modding my own since day 1 I could drive. Owned a lot of Nissans. I mean, a lot. Once I get P.O.R.N.2 to a testing stage, I'll take it out to the old stomping grounds and let y'all know how it did or if I had to be towed home. I expect it to out perform the WD21 in just about every catergory except nostalgia and rear discs and switching up from a stick. Working on the R50, I can see the improvements made to the R50 over the WD21 and it looks 10x easier to work on. I can actually crawl under the R50 and work on it vs the WD21. Ground clearance stock appears to be better. More power and torque and a nice functional interior. I can tell the difference between the WD21 forum and the R50 forum. I'm ok being the outsider, the R50 people appear to have their own thing going vs the WD21 guys. I'm just a dude with a low budget and a Nissan, don't care what others think. Never have, never will. Offspring song Smash defines how I live pretty much... I might say some things that hurt your feelings. Wah. Get over it. We're all big boys last I checked and I'll try to keep on topic for you rule following kind of guys. Pathmaker vs Pathfinder.
  19. A little serious on a Wednesday eh? Take it with a grain of salt.. Hence the Maury Povich joke. I'm perfectly OK not being on this forum. Just wanted to say XPLORx4 Have a great day.
