  1. This is some of the information on the engines How many miles do the engines have? We honestly do not know the exact mileage and if any of our competitors quote you a mileage figure, they are only guessing. THE 35,000 MILE THEORY. This theory originated by taking the average yearly Japanese driving miles and multiplying that figure by the average years the vehicle stays in use in Japan. While this average might be close, it is not exact. We have been to Japan ourselves and we have seen actual cars with 30-60 thousand miles. It is rare that the mileage exceeds 60 thousand miles. Back to top Do the Japanese have to sell their engines or junk their cars at a particular mileage or time? NO! The Japanese car Inspection, or Sha-ken as it is called in Japan, determines whether it is cost effective for a person to keep his/her vehicle. The inspection is a detailed biannual inspection that is very expensive, especially for older cars that may not pass. The owner is penalized heavily for any failures. The U.S. Department of Commerce can give you more info on this topic. Back to top Why do JDM engines have lower mileage? Japanese people rely mostly on public transportation, therefore the cars are driven less. They also have bi-annuel car inspection, or Sha-ken as it is called in Japan, and determines whether it is cost effective for a person to keep his/her vehicle. Engines are also taken out of cars that have been accidented in the back or the side. Back to top
  2. Okay, so I am seriously considering put a new engine in my pathy, I have been looking around online for engines and stuff. I am under the impression that buying a JDM Engine is going to be a good deal for me. These are imported from japanese vehicles and usually have between 20 and 60 K on them. Low mileage is because of the extensive laws in japan and expensive cost to keep running them. These are the two major sites I was looking at, one is for 695 plus about 400 shipping and the other is 799 +shipping. Didn't know if any of you guys had any experience with these engines and had any good or bad things to say. JSM Motors Nissan JDM Replacement
  3. Cool, I am actually starting to like the idea then. I think I gonna start a new topic cuz I cant find anything about this engine that I am transferring. Thanx alot.
  4. This took you about 6 months to do? I am considering getting a JDM engine to put in mine, and I wasn't kinda looking for time estimates and stuff. I have a friend that thinks we can get it done in a couple days, I think he is crazy. How long should it take if you keep at it? Thanks
  5. i checked the oil level as we were leaving blue ridge reservoir near payson, and drove home about 130 miles, the next day i headed up to town, and as i neared dosie pit road which is about halfway to town it started to act a little strange kinda like it might be running out of gas which was possible cause it was very low and i was on my way to fill it up. so i tried to nurse it along till the turnoff, but it lost all of its power and started like knocking, and thumping, i pulled off the highway, and it stalled, i got out to see if i could see an obvious problem, i didn't see anything. so i started it back up and nursed the pounding out of the engine and was able to creep it up to the turnoff in 1st gear. i went to a spot that was relatively flat and checked the fluids and there was no oil on the dipstick, i ended up putting like 5 quarts in, so somehow it emptied itself very quickly, but i cannot find any sign of a leak that substantial. i went to start it back up and it started but the rough knocking and pounding was back, i tried to give it gas and nurse it back to health but it wasnt to interested in that. so I somehow started to edge it back toward the highway, i know pretty dumb. it wouldn't go and almost ended up in a ditch directly behind me and i was on a hill by now so that was exciting. i managed to get it uphill a couple feet till I could coast it onto a parking spot behind me a little ways. I left it and hitchhiked to town with some christian and his backsliding baptist friend haha. the next afternoon i grabbed a tow dolly, and headed up to go retrieve the miserable beast, and I managed to drive it up onto the tow dolly, but i forgot to disconnect something, and I had to take it back off, so hen I as ready to get back on the dolly it did not have enough power to make it, and ran really rough like an accentuated diesel under extremely low rpms, so i spent an hour winching it up on to the dolly with my hilift jack. towed it home and that is a story in itself. sunday the symptoms were no power, knocking, pounding, it ran better with the radiator cap off, no water in the oil or vice versa. and that is pretty much it. there was no bearing noise. its kinda hard to explain
  6. no i am thinking a toyota tacoma or something like that, nissan has been good but toyota tacomas have always been my dream vehicle, update though, it wasn't a thrown rod but i think the pistons like expanded or something, so i am just gonna slowly figure out whether or not is worth salvaging. problem was that it drained itself of oil over a 160 mile period and i didn't notice. the weird part was that i can't find a leak that substantial, so idk
  7. Well, i think my pathy threw a rod, i decided that if it is not easily fixable i will just try to sell or trade it in and get a different vehicle
  8. Actually i was going 2 but i ended up going 2 the dealership and i had them install it. Whats weird about the ground is that it goes to the same ground as everything else and everything else works fine. it just goes into some ground on the harness
  9. Well, I checked the fuses again and they are still good in fact the stereo turned on for a short time then turned off so maybe the ground is solid but just loose?
  10. Yah, i checked that stuff, ground was really good, it worked b4 and my wires are all clean no shorts that i can find. I think that i have narrowed it down 2 one of those newfangled "quit when the warranty runs out" systems... Edit: It is aftemarket. A Virtual Reality System
  11. Okay b4 u guys all yell at me to use the feature I did and could not find anything having to do with my problem. My car stereo stopped working, it wont power up. Except when i turn the headlights on then the backlight to the cd player will light up but the cd player will not power up.? any ideas
  12. Yeah, in order to fit 33 at all you are going to need at least 3 inches just to clear the tires, 6 inches if you are going to do serious offroading or else you will get serious rub, or you can trim it like crazy as csutke suggested...
