  1. like startibartfast, i'm not familiar with the TD, but my mercedes om617 has a egr valve. could that have something to do with oil in the intake? otherwise i would be looking at excessive blow by from pcv and then turbo seals
  2. what about a mercedes om617? from a 300d i have one and they are nearly indestructible motors that are stupid simple to work on, fairly cheap to get, and common enough (at least in the us)
  3. that sounds pretty nice. i was off roading and my muffler fell off, so i have left it that way. as far as your intake filter, i wouldnt drive when its dusty, or go off roading because gauze type filters dont trap any where near as much particulate as a standard paper filter does.(unless you have chromoly rings, then screw filters!) but thats just me
  4. the upper strut bearings are plastic pieces of crap...if i ever have problems with them again im going to my local bearing shop and picking up some uber thrust bearing
  5. i have a 96 pathy and when i got it i had to replace the strut mounts, but the upper bracket that holds the spring was worn too because it was rubbing....i also had one of the two bolts missing from my trans mount and the other was loose. that made a wonderful clunk! hope you get it fixed
  6. were the terrano's sold in Japan, or Australia , or both? i ask because there is a guy in tacoma washington that imports front cuts from japan, mostly 240s and 300z thou, but maybe i can get him to bring a coupe diesels over sorry schro, i dont speak spanish...im from the frozen north
  7. IS THAT A BOTTLE OPENER ON THE BUMPER?!?! greatest off road mod ever! hahaha
  8. i would also be careful with k&n style gauze filters. while, yes, they allow you engine to breathe a little easier, the gauze style do not filter as much particulate as the stock paper filters do, especially if you in a desert or dry place with a lot of exposure to sand, dirt, and dust...that will usually cause more harm than good. i went to king of the hammers in johnson valley a couple of weeks back and had to change my air filter after cause it was so clogged it was making my engine throw a code! but id rather buy a new filter than a new set of rings
  9. basically, i dont want the airbag to deploy in my passengers face when im off roading...mostly because its my girlfriend who sits there, and she would probably kill me.....eventually ill have 5 point harness and wont need one and will probably just turn that space into a pouch for gps or something like that. there are 4 wires that go to the bag, once its disconnected what is the computer looking for so i can stop the airbag idiot light? is there a resistor i can put in there or should i just ground a wire or two....or just a link to a fsm would work and i could figure it out on my own.
  10. Hey dudes, Ill start off by saying its a little bit disappointing that there are not more posts in this section and that im dead set on getting the vg out of my pathfinder and a diesel engine in. im a competent mechanic with many genius mechanic and machinist friends and i have done an engine swap before, so i know what im in for. NOW, im having a ridiculous time finding a td, qd, or zd! it would be much preferred to have a nissan engine due to wiring, mounting, such...but im not totally against other makes (most likely a cummins 4bt). I have searched and searched and searched...then some more, and cant find a place on west coast usa that i can get one(im in california but have family in washington and even willing to drive to british columbia, if i can get it across the border, for a good buy). id prefer a qd32eti but id settle for a td27t. any help is appreciated as im about to the point of shooting myself! Thanks p.s thank god for beer!
  11. i got excited when i saw this so i just made one like maxedpath for 5 bucks (cost of steel). now im not sure if im actually noticing the sturdiness or if its just because im excited...
