  1. Hello all, My name is Trent. I have a 2001 Pathy Se 4wd with 115k miles. I purchased it three years ago from my father with 72k on the clock. He purchased it used with 25k. We later found out it was a former enterprise rental car. Which is odd since it was a 4wd model. Any way curent mods include manik front brush guards with 6 inch procomp lights, rear light guards, rear partition (dog cage as I call it) for Leo my boxer dog. K&N Drop in, class 3 reciever hitch, gabriel hijacker air shocks (custom). Royal purple in both diffs, and transfer case. Husky liner in cargo compartment. Stock wheels with Cooper STT 255/70/16. I spend alot of time on our tree farm which consists of 100 acres, plus a large tract of adjoining family land as well as hunting leases. There is plenty of oil field roads, and terraced pipe lines to ride on. Currently I use dads kawasaki mule or the 4wd Kubota tractor to navigate the ruff stuff. I use this truck alot for towing, but left the big stuff to my wife's 2002 GMC yukon. Well, the yukon cratered at 73K 5 months ago due to a failing rear end, electrical gremlins, and a slipping transmission (the straw that broke the camels back). Since I have had such success with my pathy, we decided to buy a new Nissan Maxima SV sport for the wife. That car is a monster and she loves it!!! Any way back to the pathy... I had been toying with modifing it for a while but was unsure if it would meed my towing needs. We have a tractor, large travel trailer, and other assorted towable items. I have towed approximately 7000lbs with my pathy ONCE. I DID NOT know the trailer weight at the time!!! But it towed a mid sized tractor on a 16 ft HD trailer well. I also tow up to 5000 lbs ocassionally. Which lead me to purchase the air shocks for the rear suspension. I have a aunt that is giving me a 01 GMC Sierra c3 which is an all-wheel drive p/u with a 6.0 L v8 that is capable of towing 9000lbs. So since I have a free truck coming I will no longer need a large tow vehicle, and with a big sigh of relief I can keep my Pathy. I love having my cake and eating it too!!! I really did not like the pathy that much when I got it. I had driven extended cab full size gm trucks until I bought the pathy. But I have fallen in love with it. It has proven to be a capable vehicle that is unbelievably reliable. The short wheel base is nice for trail riding as well as parking in tight spaces. The only repair thus far has been a cv boot. I replaced the shafts and boots at 110k. My father was meticulous about the maintanence. He took it to the stealer for every service interval. Well now that the struts are going bad (original) and the tires are getting bald, and it is time to spend some money... I think it is time to upgrade. Plans include warn hubs, ac lift, KYB struts, wheels and tires, skid plates. I have really enjoyed cruizing this site. The information has been very informative, and I have been inspired to get lifted!!! I do have a question though. I have searched this forum, and still haven't found the perfect size tire for an ac lift. I am considering purchasing a set of ultra rims that are identical to the mickey thompson classis II rims (16x8). I am leaning toward 265/70r16. I do not want to remove the mud flaps due to the fact that there is a lot of crushed gravel roads where I ride around our farm. I cannot run with the 265/75r16 without removing flaps and trimming some. Is anyone running 265/70r16 on a 16x8 with a mid offset? are you happy with that size? Also where is the best place to get skid plates? I noticed that the black panther site is down... Anyway... i am glad to be a part of this forum, and I hope that I can bring something to the table. I appreciate any information and tips that you can offer. whew sorry for being so long winded... Thanks Trent
