  1. 88's right, if you arent any mechanical just buy a new one...i wont get into anything about my situation rebuilding mine. but its fine now. i rebuilt it with no tranny experience what so ever, and it took me time and time again to get it right. well sounds like you have an electrical problem, and i mean the soleniods , and those are very easy to change if you have the same tranny parts, i mean a 4x4 re4 tranny. as for the noise, that mechanical, the tranny is toast. a rebuild or replacement is in order. im not sure how many other small mechanics have rebuilt a re4 trany, but im one. and its not hard, just have to know someone that can do it, or do it yourself. if you dont have the money, fix it. im serious, the biggest pain i nthe ass about rebuilding hte tranny is removing it, and installing... from my opinion. i dont want to start an argument, im not here for that, but this guy might not have the money to replace it, and have a shop install it. as that was my situation., yes it was dumb for me to wheel the pathy without having the money to fix it. but whos that rich?
  2. i think you should troubleshoot before you remove hte tranny. i know you can do it. i did, 6 times. and those mistakes i made were ones that are preventable. i dissagree on ther more parts that the motor. there arent all that much to the trannys, at leat the auto. most of hte parts that come out get replaced. im thinking the problem might be electrical., ie soleniod. or a hard part, the inhibitor switch, or the tranny computer, just for simple thoughts, try the truck in all foward gears, make sure it shifts when in 1 into 2, and then from 2 into 3, then press the od switch, it should shift into 4, then lockup.,... 5 if it does this when you select the geras great, then try it with the tranny selector in d adn od on, if there is a difference the problem might be electronic. oif it normal, then great., no reverse a..... gotta be something simple. if there is no noise when in reverse, id say keep the tranny in and try to continue troubleshooting. runt the tranny computer for any codes.... if its electronic, you will be told then. if its mechanical i think youd hear something, have no codes and the foward gears shift fine...... good luck. if you need i can help assist over hte net, or if your infl i can help ya out. i have good experience in the worst way with the re4, but i can only say i learned the hard way. mechanically.....
  3. i have a frame i can sell ya,,,, but it will be a month before i can get it to oyu....
  4. the swap is possable, and ive talked with others that have done this swap, im one other that wants a manual,,, and will be swaping sometime... i hateh te auto,,, ive rebuilt mine twice now adn i broke something last weekend,,, (thining its the tq converter.) i need a 4 wd tq converter, i was using a 2wd,,, anyway, another friend here in jax wants to swap the auto for hte manual as well, and im sure ill be helping on that, look all you need is money, for parts.... the driveshaft will work from the auto, the ecu will work from auto, the exhaust is the same as well. what you have to get is: master cylinder/slave cylinder the metal tubing from the cylinder to the clutch the pedal assy (just get the whole thing,,,,) tranny clutch center coulnsel shifter boot manual tranny mount and crossmember make sure hte manual is from 89-95 with FOURWHEEL DRIVE the output shafts are different. youll have to wire up a starter relay or splice int he starting harnes so you can start you truck.. there is info on that on a/c pathfinder phill and i were talking about it.... he can start his truck in nuetral or gear... its not htat hard, im sure it would take you a weekend if you were smart... if you cant do much my yourself then maybe two weekends.... good luck man... and if your wondering, the manual and auto are good trannies, some think the auto is better for wheelin
  5. yep, i never thought of that,,, i think he has the 4 cly too... thanks man, , so the 4 cly has a maf or map,,, i thought hte maf was for obd2 and map went with the obd1 -alcohol-
  6. make sure you get the same model tranny, the re and rl are similar, but still different!!! re shifts by electronics, and rl shifts by internal mechanics.....
  7. yep its gone, im getting a new one.... or used one,,, but tested with warrantee.... $600 auto.... 4wd of course,,,, i was pullin someone out of the sand and pop,, it goes no where now, i had aaa come get me,
  8. will a truck with auto tranny's maf work on a truck with a manual? my friend needs a maf, and i have a spare, but i have auto's and he has a manual... what would be the difference???? i think any type of diference would be in the ecu,,,,,,
  9. kool deal man, i think that s a good idea , more gas means more wheelin.....
  10. i have a 95 vg30e adn it does not use a knock sensor, its an automatic,,, se
  11. oh my god.... that is UGKY< whatever it is... lol not the grill gaurd either. hahaha MIMI ATACK!!!! i think either way (use stock bumper or custom) your gonna have to fabricate the mounting locations, i have a 3 inch bl now and the front bumper is off... i kind like it, but anyway im cutting the lower sections that lies behind the bumper out, on the sides,,,, so i can clear 33 - 35 tires, and making my own bumpers,,, till then im using the stock. i made relocator brackets yesturday....
  12. i believe if you want quick acceleration you need to have a motor that breathes more and burns more sufficently, some head work, cams, intake adn exhaust work would need to be done. along with that the ecu shold be replaced with one that has a more tuned fuel map... jwt has some parts, ecu, cams, i think lifters too, or get new ones from nissan. if you do the head work correctly, youll promote swirl and velocity of the incoming air and fuel, you need to get the mixture to broke up more, caused by swirl and velocity, but you have to give the sir and fuel, and it has to burn it right,,, so better timing control and fuel mapping, and it has to be able to push the mixture out the exhaust,,, headers, and such... the valves play a major part in the ammount of air, so does the timing of duration and lift.... made from the cams, there is a lot you would have to do... plus shavethe heads about 10-15 thousandths,,, it will help a lot woth compression... thats alot of money dude... :cool2:
  13. i am interested in buying a dana 44 in a few weeks, but i need to know where i can get 5.13 gears for the rear h233b axle.. any help is thankful -study-
  14. good reply denis. seems you have knowlesge on the trannies.... well its a 94 auto a? seems the overdrive and lockup is where you have an internal issue, the chatter is probably (more likely) coming from the tq converter as well. i think. but im not that experienced with the re rannies, ive rebuilt mine myself twice.... kindo keep in mind if you use process of elimination, you can help narrow down the problems. now you have a few problems. change in rpm with no spped difference... how fast are you going with this happens..... your exhaust doesnt make that noise does it???? not sure myself cause im not there to check it out. i wish i could be more help... :help:
  15. yep i have a 95 se, with working shocks, and lsd, i still get stuck, id rather get he se with open and disc, if you could ? thatd be a special order>? with cheese on top? hey jamie. you have a pm on a/c or florida....
