  1. So I am helping a friend but do not know an answer to this, has a 88 pathy and needs a throttle body. found one for him but its listed as for a manual trans and he has an auto, other than it not having the ports for his cruise control, would it work and he just not use his cruise?
  2. Fixed my pathfinder from last weekends Hollister trip, goin to Clear Creek for the weekend once I leave work!!!

  3. I second the code check too. when ever i have issues thats one of the things i check to try and narrow down what it might be.
  4. Oh, and not sure if someone already mentioned this, but maybe you could use like a Nissan Armada style rear susp. its center diff and is beef enough to survive a v8 so i bet you could get it to work lol
  5. well im having trouble finding another article i saw years ago but i have seen a few IRS nissan trucks before so i know that its been done before. here is one pic i was able to find. Now i know that there has been a couple fully independent hardbodies out there before, im trying to find the other one but you get the idea from that pic. http://image.fourwheeler.com/f/59537439+w600+re0/Off-Road-Race-Truck-__44_Nissan-Hardbody-Prerunner.jpg

i know, im not happy about it lol, i was alone and following my buddy in his yota so we didnt really stop much to take pics. my pathy did amazing though, went through some stuff i wasnt sure that it would. Im going to be going back soon and for sure ill get pics this time. I only live 45 min from Hollister Hills so its my local spot

  7. OH MY!! I am getting excited. any idea what it might cost yet???
  8. lol nice videos, and yes the links worked. yea once those tires get a little air thats when they break. I cant believe you have no issues with sucking in water?! ive hydro locked a few of my pathys multiple times lol.
  9. if you need more room you could order some tubular upper control arms, i know that should give you a little more room. Also to get some more front lift on mine, i indexed my torsion bars, so right now my front sits pretty tall. But since your from Australia, id just get by with it and raid a patrol of some parts and SAS it. If we had patrols here in America, thats what I would have done lol. Prob even try to find a wrecked one and take the diesel/trans/transfer and front axle from it and put it all in, then youd have a very solid pathy
  10. thats pretty awesome!! the guy i sold my old patthy to when the engine went out ended up recycling it i heard he was going to do it and tried to buy it back but a day too late. its nice to see someone who sold theirs to someone who is using it and making it awesome!!
  11. Welcome!! Your pathy looks awesome already, cant wait to see it get built up some. And man, i have to find a buddy like yours to take on wheeling trips lol, those pics look amazing
  12. now im confused lol. see i always thought all the pathys ive had (87,88, and 89) were 20 gals, now the other day i was just getting to the E line and when i filled up it only took like 16.3 gals. so does this mean i have about 4 gals left as kind of a reserve or was i about to run out? Cause i was leaning towards that fact that if i remember correctly (i try not to get low on fuel) that i can keep driving past the E line for awhile. how far will the gauge go before you run out?
  13. lol there is such thing as a end to a project?!?!? yea you should pick thier brains and see, who knows...........maybe one of them will have a hook up on some drivetrain parts for your project. and yea, im going to do my sas first then engine swap, but sas is going to take awhile since i want to do it right from the beginning. the other day i was hangin out at this mechanics shop my buddy works at (they let me use the lifts too ) and they were working on one of the dodge sprinter vans that had the small inline 6 diesel in them, i stared at it for a bit thinkin that its small enough it might work lol. but im not sure what prices you could find one for. wouldnt really work for a "all nissan" build either but it would be sweet too lol. and parts would be more readily available than any nissan diesel you could find over here. thats another idea i ponder about in my spare time ha ha
  14. yea, cause ive talked about wanting more power and my buddies are like, throw a chevy 5.3 in it, now i know its a awesome engine and i want to build one up one day but NOT for my nissan. I want to build this thing all nissan so that way when its done and i got wheeling and show up the other guys, i wont hear any of that excuse BS like "oh that thing isnt really even a nissan anymore" so if/when i do a engine swap, it will be a nissan engine lol. and yes, i actually was looking into a titan engine the other day too. cause ive seen a few lately that were pretty cheap. cheap enough to grab my attention ha ha. also ive seen some of the v8s out of the older infinities that didnt look bad either. those would be sweet too. but damn, the thought of a turbo diesel in my pathy just touches me in all the right places ha ha
  15. hmm, well here is the deal lol, i do have a cali model but i just smogged it. these headers wouldnt pass smog anyways but im thinkin that in 2 years when it comes time to smog again, it might just be a full wheeler and ill just green sticker it. id like to pull all my smog stuff off and just run it but we will see what i end up doing lol. but thats for letting me know what was the deal!
  16. so i think your right, i found something on another forum that said "the emissions hookups for the 90+ and the 86-89 headers are different" but he could not say what the difference is. im still looking but not finding the exact difference. cause if its nothing too major, i could figure something out for it.
  17. i tried to search some and didnt see anything but maybe i was not searching right lol. ill try some more but if someone knows something lol, feel free to chime in
  18. here is a link to some on fleabay that i was thinkin about. cause if i have to pull my stock manifolds off, i want to put headers back on. and i just dont have the money for some doug thorneys http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pickup-PaceSetter-Shorty-Header-70-1198-/141020001110?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1990|Model%3APathfinder&hash=item20d5727356&vxp=mtr
  19. so mine is a 88 4x4 5 speed v6 and i just want to get some cheapy headers since my manifolds are messed up and i have a exhaust leak, but all the pacesetters say for 90+ with all the same options. So I called and asked why they wouldnt fit, they couldnt really give me an answer other than something was different. Does anyone know what i would have to do to make some pacesetters for a 90 fit my 88? thanks
  20. Ha ha yes think away! I mean, yea this could all be in vain but at the same time, could be such a sweet rig. my pathy is prob just going to stay how it is now, since i started this thread, some things have changed and im going to be putting my money elsewhere for awhile, but one day, i think think this would be bad ass! plus my pathy is running and driving great now so i think ill just enjoy it for awhile till something breaks lol
  21. lol well "if" i ended up trying to do a swap like this, id prob see if i could use a newer pathy or frontier trans since they came in those vehicles. But in the end, i think it would be easiest to just call up advanced adapters and see if they could make me something to use my pathys trans i have now, the 5 speed. they say they can make just about anything work together, so if i went that route, i might just have to challenge them ha ha. and if (when lol) you get a cummins, you wont regret it. mine had a programmer/intake/exhaust and whew, loved that torque. esp on the freeway. you would be cruising, someone gets in front of you all slow, and you just lean into the throttle some, no down shift or anything and next thing you know, you went from 60-90 pretty quick. Im just sad i dont have mine anymore. think bout it every day.
  22. Yea, i used to have a 24v cummins and that was the best truck ive ever owned. and i think a 4bt could be sweet but yea, thats so much weight and would throw your weight balance off. i mean, ive rebuilt a C7 before and do all my own work on my vehicles, so i know i could work on that diesel. Now a chevy v8 would be bad ass and ive seen people do it before, but i kind of want to stick to nissan. so ive seen those nissan v8s out of the q45s go pretty cheap, so one of those would be pretty bad ass. and i think if you get the right one, they are 6 bolt mains so they would hold good power. But a little turbo diesel would be cooler i think lol. esp if you had a doubler. Ive been watching lots of videos on youtube of the YD25 and it keeps making me want one more ha ha. you just have to look under terrano or navara and they will start popping up.
  23. Oh, here is a cut away of one of those diesels so you get the idea. I looked it up and guys can get like 220hp and over 350ftlbs from them pretty easy. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8c/YD25DDTi.jpg
  24. Yea, a 4bt would be amazing!!! But, they are also about as heavy as a BBC i believe. 700lbs. One of the reasons I thought that engine would be cool was not only is it a small light weight diesel, but also that thing revs to 5k!! can you imagine how sweet that would be?? Now I will say, finding parts would be a B!&^@ here in the US, you wold have to order parts from South America, Australia, and Europe, but one of these days when I get to start this new job, i might just try to do this swap lol. Dare to be different lol. If not, i might just fold and do a different swap and just keep it gas, ive thought bout a VG30DE too, I think those are 230-240hp and 200ft lbs and bolt to the trans, and i think maybe even the motor mounts, so we will just see what the next few months brings
