The same thought came to mind when I saw that pic. The man is a virtual smorgasboard of visual aides. Another example of the awesome support on this forum.

Bumpstops........ My assumption is that they keep my struts from clunking hard at full compression or wait ... do they stop the clunk at full extension? I need suspension education here. Additionally, can anyone expand on replacement cycle, and if they arent integrated into the boot are they still something that needs to be replaced with struts off? Do I have seperate bump stops on my 2001 stock? Or is it an add on? anyone care to explain? Re. Rock Auto: For a company that doesn't focus on web service that Java part finder was kick ass and fast. I only ordered the strut mount/bearings this time so shipping was simple. But I will keep that multi-distibution point stuff in mind for the future.

already been there. They list strus for 2001 at $72, mounts at $63, and bearings for $13. I am considering getting just the struts there. and saving $55 bucks by getting the moogs at rockauto.

Anyone ever use RockAuto.com ?? They are listing moog strut mounts with bearing for $49.79. Would like to see free shipping, but even tacking on $9 for ground, looks like a good price.

My springs have arrived. Its a nice kick in the pants to order my struts. Still unanswered is the question of bumpstops. Do I already have them stock? I would look, but since i don't know what I'm looking for or at that really doesnt help. Do I need to replace them.... or add them? Is it something I can do later? Or does it need to be done with the struts off?
-
yeah i figured it was cheap insurance..... so are you getting the ones with bumpstops?

Bump......... On the topic of strut replacement..... I'm ready to order a set of GR2 struts for my 01, I have gathered that it is wise to replace the strut mount and bearing as well. I have come across differing opinions on the boot. There are boots, boots with bump stops and people using no boot at all. If i don't buy the boot do I still need bumpstops? Are there advantages to any particular combination? Are there any parts I haven't mentioned that I also need to replace in the process?

I see a lot more of those on the QX4. Be sure to look around for the infinity parts as well. -

My mother in law lives down a 10 mile dirt road through BLM land in northern Nevada. There is an endless supply of dirt roads through the mountains and valleys. I love to go out and wander while we are there. Lots of very sharp rocks/gravel about. I'm just worried what the teflons would look like after a summer of bombing those straighaways at 65 mph. -

My first reaction is to think this makes no sense. They designed it for their off road wheels not the street blingers. Aren't those the wheels that will see the most abrasive debris? I like the look of some of those matte black wheels. But I don't want to be rolling around on four abused omelette pans with rusty, flakey scouring all over. -
A lot of oem stuff is mounted with 3m double sided tape now. They have a few different automotive applications. I think if you buy 3m you'll withstand most conditions. 3m automotive oem sticky stuff

hmmmmm ... just looked at it again. For those of you with a post 1999 rig, it doesn't list our pathys specifically, but the 29091 part number is the same I have seen on other sites for the 99.5 to 200? R50. I believe there may be an issue with the fitment into the stock wheel...... gonna have to look into this. -
