  1. I havent been on here in a while and I thought i'd make a life/vehicle situation update. My best friend's Grandpa died in 2010 and his Granny has been driving the old mans truck (2003 Ford F-150 King Ranch 4x2 with the SOHC 2valve 5.4L Triton V8) ever since, basically as a grocery getter and doctor office transport. Well she is at the point where she has to have a chauffeur and so the truck has been sitting. They tried to drive it one day and the battery had died so she decided to sell it. I bought the truck @ 138,000 miles for $5,000. She told me that it was meticulously taken care of with dealership oil changes every 2500 miles since birth. I got a flipping deal... Looked inside the oil cap and theres not even a hint of varnish anywhere in sight. It drives incredibly well too, just the epitome of a blessing really. The cowhide leather is in good condition, no tears or anything! Literally one of those vehicles that an old couple took very good care of. In addition to the truck I also bought a house, no more renting! No more white walls!! And if that wasnt enough I also landed a new job getting paid correctly for what I do and with a real, funded, and staffed maintenance department. None of these things, I mean not one of them; the vehicle, the house, or the job could I have attained without supernatural help. The way everything came to be was legitimately miraculous.. or incredibly lucky... and someone came out of the blue and helped me on the down payment for the house...... which was a large sum of money...... I assure you, I have not been good enough to anyone ever (and really have mostly been the opposite of good to those closest to me) to deserve what has been done and it can only be explained by love from a higher place than this earth. Things fell into place that had to be set in motion long before I even asked or knew to ask for them. The Lord really is there, and He really does love us. So, the QX4 will now be my toy!!! Yay! I get to love my Nissan again lol! The engine needs to be replaced. The heads are absolutely trashed and the rods/mains are worn pretty severely (slight knocking at certain RPM has begun). I plan to replace the engine at some point and possibly stick a manual transmission in it. Then it will be driven every time I go fishing, which I hope starts to be more frequent than recently as I haven't been but one time this year and didnt catch anything. I will put 15w40 in it next to see how the knocking reacts. Anyway I miss getting on here and I hope to at some point contribute more content in the form of another engine replacement and also a auto/manual trans swap.

  2. Hi everybody, I am new here and have a question. Did the 2003 series 2 ST pathfinder come with a factory bull bar? Was the bull bar a factory option? Or were all the bull bars aftermarket? I just cant find any info anywhere else online. I have a bull bar on my pathfinder (the common one with the four slots at the bottom). Is there a part number I can locate on the bull bar? Any help with answers is greatly appreciated, Cheers, Boz. (this isn't a pic of my car but just an example I found online so ignore the number plate)

  3. Hello all, Picked up a 1997 Pathfinder XE, manual transmission, about a month ago. It's my first 4x4 and will be moving us from Virginia to Colorado next month. Previous owner put 31" tires on, but didn't add a lift or get wheels with the right backspace. So there is some rubbing right now when the steering is turned all the way. Overall pretty happy with it so far and looking forward to getting it fixed up and out on some trails. One of the first things I had to do was replace the coolant recovery tank. They initially sent me one that didn't fit (although the sticker on it says it fits all pathfinders 96-04/QX-4 97-03). Might see if someone on here is interested in it.

  4. 1) High range (2HI/4HI) stays the same (1:1). Low range gears only change low range. 2) I'm not sure I understand what whoever told you that was talking about (and I'm not sure they did, either). With a TX10a, in low range, the front and rear driveshafts are locked together by the chain, so one cannot spin faster or slower than the other, regardless of the gear ratio.

  6. 1st shakedown trip done and dusted, the only thing that needs work on is my front sway bar mounts, by the end of the day they were pretty noisy. Any ways here is some pictures of Saturday arvo wheelin' in the wilds of Tassie. I got a few pics, but I will keep it to pictures including the Pathy to stick to the "random pictures of your R50" mantra, no one wants to see a heap of pictures of the Tassie bush. The crew for the day, mixed bunch, 4, 6, and 8 cylinders all represented ? The day's location Borradaile Plains Hut. Hut was originally a cattle grazers and snarer's hut, the original hut burnt down in the 1950's, but was rebuilt soon after. It is privately owned, but visitors are accepted as long as the site and buildings are respected. Pathfinder picnic table: Pathfinder sunset:

  7. Just saying hi. Just moved to Australia and after looking at a few cheaper 4wds I ended up with a 2001 Tiv6 pathfinder. Its not in bad nick, couple bumps, couple rust spots. But mechanically it seems great. Was intending to put a 2in lift on it but to my surprise it had 1 fitted already with king springs and shocks less than 12 months old. Score. After some ideas floating around my head, plan is to turn it into a day/ weekend camper. A dual battery setup with fridge and draws will be fitted. As far as offroad gear goes, I won't be going mad. It has the factory alloy bull bar fitted and a non descipt bash plate fitted as well. All ill be fitting will be additional lights, recovery points from and rear as well as a roof tent setup. As well as all the required recovery gear.

  8. Hey hey new member here in the Graham Washington area. Anyone local to me want to do nissan stuff? Hahaha. Anyway, i have been reading about cars for years obsessively but am new to wrenching on things. Any help tips and comments appreciated. I have an all nissan lineup in my household currently with my pretty rare 93 NX2000 (sapphire blue), 95 pathfinder SE-v6 (forest green), 2004 Xterra se-v6 (yellow), and last but not least is our 2008 Altima with the 2.5 4cyl motor and a CVT “shudders in disgust” (white). I am looking at trying to get together with local Nissan Nuts to wrench, talk, learn, and play with out in the woods. lol. Thanks for having me!!
