  1. Hope this helps somebody. We just put a "new" JDM motor/Trans/front differential/Xfer case in my daughters 98 pathfinder a few weeks ago. I replaced all seals, gaskets, etc in each piece. I replaced both Idler pulleys and the fan clutch with new ones I then decided to replace her AC comp/ Expansion valve, dryer, etc. I recharged her AC by wieghing in the exact charge. Her AC was OK driving around town, not bad, not great @ around 80-90 degrees. I purchased some 1/2" rubber HVAC pipe insulation from Lowes for less than $6.00. It comes in 6 foot lengths. I cut it in half, right down the center so I had two 6' pieces. I installed/stuffed it around the outer edge/gap between the radiator and condenser, the top, and both sides. This directs more air thru the condenser at low rpm's, like when it's needed while driving around town. I wish I measured the before/after evaporator temp when I did this, but by seat of the pants feelings, it is MUCH better. My daughter said, "MY AC is Kicking." She told me tonight that her friend stated, "your AC is colder, did you do something to it?" I'll let you know how it works around town in the upper nineties.

  2. 15” procomp wheels with 32x11.5 mt tires. We’re currently in a roof rack swap from SE to LE, but I’m kind of enjoying this sleek look. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. Look's like we are sharing an inverse problem! I find lot's of wheel carriers, bullbars and other metal work out in the US that are un-obtainable! If it's just small packages that you are struggling with, feel free to reach out, I will help if I can! Websites like https://www.sparesbox.com.au/ offer 1-2days delivery to me (although maybe slightly more delayed as of current events) I have no clue what delivery costs to you might be, but if you want to cover the costs I'm happy to forward them on.

  5. On to the bigger stuff, Brakes System were up next. Ran into a small problem but was resolved quickly... The rotors here that had sitting at home actually wasn't for a R50 but i think a Xterra but being at the shop luckily working, delivery was quick. Opted for some very good Akebono rotors instead. In the meantime Lower Ball Joints were installed and LF ABS sensor was installed.(which was a pain in the butt being all stuck and seized) Bought the truck with a ABS sensor CEL now its gone Having access to automatic brake bleeding was heaven sent lol Should have done all the rest of the steering since it was disconnected but decided to do it another day ...

  6. Next day at the body shop results Pretty happy with the results, rest of the car some day down the road. Went home and installed my low profile Apex roof basket Went for a test drive and found the wind noise to be loud so quick thinking knew i had a INNO fairing stored away somewhere and installed that days later and the noise was instantly gone!

  7. I hate it when I put my worms in other Pathfinders... I do know that the Rancho struts were also built to similar OME dimensions, which were both based on the longer struts that 96-99 R50s had. Depending on how tall your spacers are (2"?) it'll probably be at the upper range of the CV angle, but if it's clear that the setup works on one side and not the other, I can only presume it's because of CV differences. Not that you'd want to redo the work, but I'd also bet swapping your CVs would move the problem to the driver's side. Totally agree on with buying a new CV vs. replacing boots. I'm dreading doing it on my passenger side, but now would be a good time to do it so that I can collect some real data on them when they're apart.

  8. Hey everyone. Very good thread here that's been going for a while. I have a question about a '91 Pathy. Have a friend who's selling his. I have not seen it yet but says it has 300k and is a 5 speed. Says the body is in good shape. He is getting the ball joints replaced now. I am a car guy and don't mind working on it a little but with 300k on the drive train. How much more life does the drive train have with that many miles?

  9. Well, I finally took 1 hour of my time and assemble my first cv half-shaft with new boots made from thermoplastic. Thermoplastic is a blend from plastic and rubber that can withstand higher and colder temperature. It also resists better to puncture and tear. The rockford thermoplastic boots are made from a patented blend called santoprene made by monsanto company : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santoprene My adventure started when one of my boot teared. Went to check what was available and choices were not that great. I checked the ones from a pinzgauer which also has an ifs, and his were made from thermoplastics. At the time I did not know anything about this material. My friend told me that they were very resistant and seeing him going to places I would not dare (at least not at the time :-) ), I beleived him and started to learn about the stuff. My research brought me to RockfordCV ( http://www.rockfordcv.com/rcvboot.htm ) which is the only company I found that carries cv boots for nissan pathfinder. Unfortunately, they did not have anything for R50 (96-2004). They only had boots for 87-89 and 90-95. Not stopping there, I decided to do some reverse part number searches. I looked at the EMPI catalog for part numbers for the boots of 90-95 pathfinder vs 96-04...no luck.... then I hit the jackpot... The 87-89 pathfinder EMPI cv Boots part number are the same than for a 96-04 ! Bingo... Called rockford cv and ordered 2 sets of their 87-89 boots. (part number : 166-21 and 166-23). I decided i was going to take the plunge and see. The boots are about 11-13$ each. I decided to rebuild my OEM nissan shaft with them instead of rebuilding the EMPI crap (that barfed out it's grease 4 days after I installed it!).. I trust a lot more the oem nissan even though there is some surface rust on it, I feel more confident with them.. They fit like a glove and have a nice tight fit around the cv. Was made to go there ! So here you have it : the first (I think) R50 half-shaft with thermoplastic boots. For now they will not go on my truck just yet. I'm keeping them for spare until I put my front strut spacers which will put the cv at more angle. This should be a good test. All pictures here : https://elstevo3.smugmug.com/Rockford-cv-boot Foreground = rockford (santoprene) background = EMPI (shiny (crap) neoprene) You can see the difference with the material. The thermoplastic is a lot less shiny and a lot more stiff. It is also noticeably thicker.
