  1. Been a while since an update, but it drives good now! Not that I've driven it a lot in the past few weeks...thanks Corona. New rotors all around solved all of the shaking issues from what I can tell, and a rebuild on the parking brake made it work; some bits were entirely missing, and the rest was well worn. Also have some DuroBump bumpstops up front, which has the suspension at a point that I'm happy with for the time being. Put a radio out of a 2007 Scion TC in to replace the Jensen head unit, as it was buggy and didn't match the rest of the interior very well. Also put on a new passenger front wheel bearing and ProComp Series 69 wheels after I had a tire fall off during some New Year's wheeling. Done a few other odds and ends since, but mostly been trying to just keep it in good shape and enjoy it. Also has a 1" body lift and a full factory exhaust now.

  2. Just wondering how everyone is faring in the current situation. I'm in Melbourne Australia and we are only really just starting to ramp up the lockdowns. No one seems to be taking the warning for distancing seriously - 100s of people still flocking to beaches etc... I took my Harley out on Saturday (didn't stop anywhere populated and took my own lunch) for what will be my last non-commuting ride for quite some time. I am fortunate to be still in work but plenty of us are doing it hard over here. How are things where you are from? I hope every one makes it through in one piece.

  4. Thanks! Because my crossbars got bent in the roll over, I removed them completely and was able to bolt the platform right down to the roof rails. I like how low profile it is but I have not driven it on the highway yet to see how bad the wind noise is. I will make up some sort of faring if it is very noisy.

  5. I’m in north Georgia and most local small businesses are all closed. Local restaurants are struggling and the streets are nowhere near as busy as usual. My job is intact as we blow mold toner bottles which go to hospitals, however toner bottles are maybe 5% of our sales, the rest is small engine fuel tanks for Honda and Honda is on lockdown due to a SARS2 outbreak. I expect to see our operations go down to a skeleton crew soon.. I’m planning on building an AR15 with the stimulus cash. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  6. Same here. The auto parts stores seem more sanitary than the fast food joints to me lol. For those of you still going out to eat, don't forget, even if the employees at the drive-thru are wearing gloves, those gloves just touched the credit card of the person behind you, then your drink, and the next person's card, then their drink, and the next person's card, then their drink...matters a bit more now, but that's something to think about always - money and cards are gross!

  7. I'm in North Central Texas, its not quite as bad here. It does seem that it's all of the "leftys" are grabbing all of the TP and water above food.. I live well outside a large metropolitan area and they're freaking out. It's calm around here, it'd be better if I could keep the misses offa' Facebook. Shes telling me everywhere close where new cases are just popping up.. Just irritating, I gotta hear it from the lamestream media, from my alternative sources for news and my wife... It's absolutely maddening!!! Sent from my LG-H700 using Tapatalk

  8. I'm a bit outside of the Seattle area and it's the same. Everyone seems to be doing a good job with social distancing/sheltering other than for grocery shopping/walks. I'm still working, both from home and having to go in to support unfortunately. Happy to have a job that's flexible though, some aren't doing as well with the shutdown of non-essential businesses.

  9. I had an open Saturday and decided to build a roof platform. I used three 10’ lengths of super-strut, cut and welded then painted several coats of satin black. I think it turned out decent considering it only took about 4 hrs to build and cost about $65 including paint and welding wire.

  10. California is out of toilet paper, baby wipes, and water. Everything besides half the business being closed its fairly normal around. Sent from my Z982 using Tapatalk

  11. But only very very small ones, from what I've experienced a pic will only fit if you reduce its resolution hugely.

  12. Today was my day off and didn't have any pressing things to do(not that there is much I could do with this stupid overblown virus panic), so did something stupid. I decided to install the bronze idler arm bushings I have had for a while and replace the worn UCA bushings on the right front. I found the idler arm bushings fit very tight. I used my my balljoint press to seat the bushings into the idler arm and then had to use it again to install the arm onto the mount. No more play in the idler arm. If I had been smart, I would have stopped there and found something else to do. I am an idiot. Tried to remove the mounting nut for the top of the front shock. The stem snapped off. Off to order a pair of new shocks, at least I have an excuse to get rid of the crappy Rancho 5000's that have been there since 2001. Not a fan of those on my truck. Moved on and unbolted the UCA from the frame and upper ball joint. Now the fun really begins. I notice the mounting spindle is bent again. I have only replaced that one twice, now I need to do it again. I start pressing it out, and the bushing on one end is siezed to the spindle and the other is showing no interest in letting go of the UCA. Finally get the spindle out and find my UCA is bent and twisted. Not a big deal if my truck was still stock, but nooo, my arms are the AC lift arms. Finally get the second bushing out, by balljoint press got a lot of work today and was doing all this work in my bay at the shop I work at, so I am not completely helpless, but I am doing a lot of swearing. Fortunately, business has slowed so not impeding anybody else. Some work with a hammer got the arm back into shape sort of. Had plenty of irritation to vent so the hammer work was kinda useful. Went on to pound on the spindle and got it close. Still need to find and order a new pair. Got the stuck bushing off by using the torch and air hammer. Killed one of the washers in the process. New bushings were just that, just bushings. Went for a little walk to the local hardware store and found some replacements. Reinstalling the spindle, found the arm had spread a bit. Forced things together and reinstalled the arm. Got everything put back together minus the right front shock, might see the new ones next Monday if the virus doesn't screw with that too much. Time to move to the alignment rack and see how bad everything is. Got the heads on and comped, performed the caster measurement and stood there in shock looking at the numbers. I haven't seen them that good in years. My camber is almost dead on with both and the caster is only 2 degrees below the minimum. The computer is telling me I only need to pull 1/16" out of both rear UCA mount stacks to fix that. Since they are all washers at the moment, not happening, just dealing with having some negative caster and the freeway speed instability it brings for now. Burn that bridge when I get around to finding some replacement UCAs and spindles. So I set the toe and drove about 20 miles to return a throttle body and ECU core for the 2000 Maxima I had been fighting with for the last couple weeks. Yes the truck was a bit unstable and tended to wander and wallow about at 70 mph. Hoping it gets a little better when the right front has a shock to help dampen the movements. Found that the steering gear has a bit of slop in the straight ahead position, hopefully the replacement I have is better. Thinking about reinstalling the front swaybar again, if I can find the mounts for it again, probably just pull them from one in the junkyard. So many things I have to do to my poor old and abused 27 year old truck to get it back to where it can be a DD again. I really need to find a cheap car for DD since my daughter has the Sorento, but really can't afford it right now. Then again, having a hard time finding the money and parts for the old Pathfinder too. Anyway had to vent. Sorry no photos to share, the camera in my phone doesn't like to focus and I have not figured out where to host them anyway. So I haven't bothered taking any snaps. Oh by the way, it isn't just the VQ35 R50s with throttle cables that have IAC issues that fry the ECUs, the Maximas with the VQ30 have similar issues. So much fun...

  13. I would recommend removing radiator. Just unbolt the a/c leaving at least one bolt stuck in as to relieve stress on the hoses then when need be you can pull it out of the way to get timing cover off. Sent from my SM-S367VL using Tapatalk

  14. She may be my Offroad Toy - but she’s still a work horse too. Quarantine Project time - she just swallows that stuff up. That weight doesn’t even begin to touch the LR 9448s
