  1. So here she is, a minty 2000 R50 with, like, 168k on it. Yeah, well, kinda not. When a friend of mine messed me at like 2am saying he had a "rough" but running Pathfinder for only $500, I originally shrugged it off. But after going to his place over in NJ, I looked at it quick in the dark and decided that I had to have it. So 2 weeks later he sold it to me on a gentlemans agreement and onto the trailer it went. Looking at it in the light and not buried in a car lot though, it was gruesome. Might not wanna look at these on your lunch break. The water is from an overnight rain. Left the windows open. Made it much grosser. Yeah, really freakin gross. But wait, it gets worse as I begin on stripping it. Rear seats out, and all the rear carpet and plastic were dumped. Under the passenger seat was a good warning as what was to come. I gagged pretty good when I saw this. All carpet was stripped, and the door pockets were cut off. Looking rearward, all the plastic on the doors, trim, everything was tossed. So a day or so later, I got the pressure washer out cause the tar and ash was everywhere. The only way to make the cabin habitable was to use some water on it. So I drilled a few holes at the front of the little channel the cord run through, parked it on a hill and got out the Karcher. Cant forget the electronics. And not a whole lot has changed as of yet. Nothing I have pics of anyways. Got a new head unit cause the BOSE didnt like the water, got a new steering wheel cover cause the old one was hard and gross and the leather on the wheel was worn to hell. Covered the driver seat with some Super 77 and stuck a few bath towels to it as the leather was disgusting and the seat foam was nonexistent. Got it tagged but no way its gonna pass inspection now, and definitely not later. Took it on one trip up to SullCo and rode Centralia a little and it hit 110mph on its dry rotted tires so im very happy with the driveline health and hopeful itll stay strong. But I got a ride planned to RAC on Sunday so gotta crank some stuff out on Saturday to make it more enjoyable.

  2. Rear bumper is on..... Well alright, It’s more of an “in progress” pic I welded some pieces of 2x2 tubing to the bumper and inserted them the frame, but I still need to bolt it through. For now it’s just kind of wedged in there until I can get back out to the garage later tonight. I’m hoping my welds are strong enough but I’ll make sure to test it out once I’m done so that it doesn’t fall off in the middle of nowhere while Im trying to unstick myself. I’m also going to be making brackets that attach it to the OEM hitch mounts for extra strength. Not sure when I’ll be able to have those done, but I won’t be doing any pulling until it’s reinforced Planning to paint the newly exposed sheet metal either dark grey or black, and of course it still needs the tire carrier. In terms of looks, I thought the bumper would be too small, but I kind of dig it. Always possible to extend around the corners with some tubing as well

  5. Hey guys! My name is Doug. Recently picked up a mint-condition 2000 LE from a friend a few months ago with full intentions of running it strictly offroad. I have a few places local I can wheel, namely Reading Anthracite in St. Clair and the holy ground of Centralia PA. Anyways I do have mechanical experience, been wrenching since I could just about hold one and auto mechanics have always been an interest. Did 2.5 years of votec, graduated top 3 in the class and with a VT inspection certification as well as some smaller manufacturer certs. Been building offroad tractors since I was 13 and operate one of the largest tractor forums dedicated to that sort of thing. Built minibikes for a few years starting in '15, got into larger bikes in '16, and now here I am with a proper offroad capable vehicle (my '00 Maxima didnt last long). Hoping to learn a bit more about these SUVs and hopefully get some ideas. Do a lot of stuff on a tight budget so I am always looking for cheap mods so I can have some cheap fun. Maybe find some wheeling buddies so I dont have to worry about getting stuck.

  6. I went ahead and found some reinforced tranny cooler hose that AutoZone said would work for my application. I set the timing belt tension, installed the lower timing cover, put the distributor in, put the fuel rail back in, and began installing the intake plenum before realizing my wiring harness was behind the heater hoses. 8. No problem! Been through it myself on my 1994. I'm now parting it out but I'm in Ontario so that doesn't help you much. It has an 02 Xterra trans in it.

  9. Just to follow up. The rubber boot on the inside of the brake master cylinder reservoir cap was folded over funny and was pushing on the switch in the reservoir. I set the boot straight and it's been fine

  10. Went up to our property for a day and in between working on the house tinkered with the car for a couple of hours. Removed all of the 'old man' add-ons Also threw my 31s on, but they are coming back off until I sort out a lift. Also found the culprit for my overheating issue Threw in a new water pump and radiator at the same time, went for a run, cool as a cucumber! That's it for now! Pete
