  1. I'm really impressed with my new cheap all terrains ($100 each!) and how well they do in mud!

  2. Well, I have now fitted up the BFGs and taken it out for a good weekend trip. Pleased to report it all went well and the truck performed flawlessly. I did have to adjust the front fender liner slightly with the help of an angle grinder but it still looks pretty factory. Only rubbed on the top of the liner when I bottomed it out at the front.

  6. So some of you guys have probably seen various posts about my old truck, a JDM 1997 Terrano 3.2 diesel. I was about to dump a whole lot of cash into it and spec it up for 4wding, but I've now gone a similar direction with a new vehicle and sold the Terrano My father decided to upgrade his vehicle, and offered me his 2007 R51 V6 for a price I couldn't refuse. So this will be the new 4wd and will also be specced up to do trips with the Canterbury Land Rover Owners Club. During his ownership my father added a 2" lift with King springs, so that's already done. So far I have added the UHF CB and dashcam from the Terrano, bolted on a set of front recovery points, got a rear recovery hitch, fitted a snorkel, made a sump skidplate from 5 mm steel tread plate, transferred all my recovery gear, fitted a 1.5 kg fire extinguisher, snorkel, spark arrestor and lastly, a set of 255/85r16 BFG KM2 tyres on OEM Nissan whpeels. At the moment I'm pretty keen just to get out and drive it on some club trips. I've got one planned over the Waikaia Bush Rd for the 28th. As my father has had it from new I've already put some serious bush miles on it, but it's always good to get out. That's next to a 265/65r17 all terrain, Goodride SL369

  7. Hi all! First off, I'm a Subaru guy slowly becoming more of a nissan guy. I've had 17 subarus over the past 15 years, but currently down to just 1, I've had a 280z for 12 years but just recently finally started working on it. I recently moved to Arizona from ND, originally from Alaska. After being here a few weeks I got a message from a friend who happened to be in Tucson and was helping another friend of his clear out his father's estate. I offered to lend a hand and my crappy mazda b2500 and we emptied a couple loads of stuff, with a few things left over for me to sell. When they were done and ready to leave town they asked if I wanted his vehicle, they didnt think it was worth the hassle of selling, so they left me his father's 99 LE pathy! I'm not sure if the father smoked in it, or these boys did enough damage to make it seem like he had since the day it was new.... but it was bad, really bad. Being inexperienced with cigarette smoke I gave it a good vacuuming and tried a couple "bombs" and then it just smelled like an old casino. I did some research and bought a nice little ozone machine locally used for 30$, ran it for 3 hours over the course of a few days, letting it air out after each for a few hours, and leaving the AC running one time to get the vents. It worked wonders. At first it had a residual ozone odor, and then it sat in that spot for a few months being baked in the arizona sun. I'd open it every once in a while and now it smelled like a freshly cleaned casino at least. I ran the ozone machine 1 more time, and it had the same effect. Christmas weekend we drove from Tucson to Jerome and Sedona, it had a faint odor at the start but over the course of the trip, with fast food, new febreze air fresheners in the vents and windows down alot of the time, it really isnt noticable, and I'm perfectly happy with the outcome. This process started back in August, this week i FINALLY got the title so it can be fully legal, and I'm super stoked for that. For my plans with it! It's currently going to replace my b2500 and my daily, and be our weekend adventure rig. I've already replaced the stock wheels with some 16x8.5 +6 level 8 trackers, with some 265/70 bfg long trail t/a. I picked up the wheel and tire set for 300$ so I'll ride out the rubber which is about 50%-40% tread on 3 of them, and like 90-80% on one, I'll keep that for a spare on a 16x8 +12 later probably. Future mods: Full coverage roof rack+ awning. Factory fender flares Air compressor + lockers. Custom bumpers f/r + rear spare swing out. Drivers side ladder to rack. Possible roof tent. Maybe a lift? It doesnt rub atm That's most of the plans and a whole wall of text for now. TLDR: 99 pathy for free, smelled like dead guy cigarettes and sadness. Smells better, works good. Current state of the Datsun Sold the silver/black subie before moving. Current state of the pathy Wheel poke with the 8.5 +6 What it looked like when I got it, sun damaged passenger fender. My current tool box setup if anyone cares ?

  9. That's about the same off set I have. I added a set of Pacer rubber fender flares that just covers the "stick-out". They work well and look pretty good too.

  11. yes, it s true that there is little to none aftermarket parts for the pathfinder. BUT what is available can definitely make you build a very capable machine. Like said above from @FirstGenFreak has a decent little list there for some basic things. Not sure if youve been in the NPORA scene for very long or any of the online pathy forums and pages but you can get some ideas pretty quick here. Good luck fellow pathy brother!

  12. Start by looking at how you drive the car and where you feel it's shortfalls are. If you're new to off-roading you will find the car very capable as it is and may be happy to keep it as is! Start with things you need to enjoy your car more - Cant get up hills? Locker(s). Keep bottoming? Lift/Bigger tyres. Don't like the colour? Paint. Want to chat with mates when out wheeling? UHF Radio. I only spend money to make improvements I am going to use. Over here in Aus every man and his dog has 4wd utes dripping expensive gear - 2k driving lights, roof tents etc... And you can see they never see any offroad action. So go use it, and tailor your build to suit the type of driving you enjoy. Nice rig, enjoy it!

  13. Polished my combustion chambers up to 3000 grit it’s not perfect but a hell of a lot better than they were when I pulled them, I know it won’t produce any real noticeable gains but since this Vg30e rebuild is going on a year now ( due to all the powdercoating) I will start a rebuild thread one of these days, porter out all the casting slag out of the intakes and plan to do a little polishing on the exhaust side. truly a labour of love. 14. If you get a locker in the back, you’ll see that thing surprise everybody you wheel with. i’ve been with 2wd tacoma’s that have a stock e-locker and they amaze me every time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. Thanks for the welcome! I'm pretty excited to get this set up, going to buy some steel soon and start working on bumpers and roof rack. I think I've decided to add some step rails or at least deflectors on the sides as well. Not sure about lights yet. But I'd like some floods on the side / back of the rack eventually. Going to draw up some sketches of the end goal
