  1. Has anyone done something similar to what the people with newer gen 4runners are doing with the high clearance bumper mod? https://trail4runner.com/2019/01/08/high-clearance-bumper-cut-5th-gen-4runner/ Subject, my 98 QX4 with 32s and 2" spacers. I have heat-gunned the bottom edges of my QX4s bumper to make it drivable. It's not rub-free, so I plan on taking only 1 more stab at bumper mod before I resort to waiting an eternity to build a tube bumper. However, keeping in the spirit of my ride, I didnt but it cheap for it to be expensive and nice! I bought it cheap so I could do things i would never do to my other cars... Like take a saw to the bodywork. Different kind of fun, right? My thought is same in principle to the 4runner; cut the bumper at an angle following a bumper contour, re-anchor the liner, add edge trim to cover the cut edge. I dont plan on the cut being as drastic, but should look cool and give ample clearance I was next to a new-ish runner with this mod last week. It looked nice, but I couldn't imagine cutting a $40k truck. The Q'y seems a prime candidate though

  2. For convenience sake, I'll start putting all of my projects and pertinent pathfinder information in this thread, as well as retroactively putting some of my project in this thread, for starters, here's the car the day we got it. Rebuilt title, a front end wreck had taken out the front bumper cover, nothing else. The covers cheaply painted, but oh well. 151k miles when we bought it (October 2018) Very First thing to get done was a sound system. I swapped my twin 12" subwoofers from the 4runner along with the amp. I added a Kenwood Double Din Stereo, and Rockford Fosgate Component Speakers. I'm not quite an audiophile, but I don't like putting up with stock sound systems on older vehicles. Next thing that happened was the pathfinder got lifted: 2" spacer for 2.5" of lift, 3" spacer in the back. No new moog springs added. Running Boards removed Next: Led Headlights-they're better than cheap halogens, but they took forever to aim properly. Not my smartest or most necessary purchase. @RainGoat was right about the headlights not melting Ice, I had some slush stick to them once while driving. Original thread below. I also Spray tinted my fog light's yellow with Krylon Stained glass spray paint. Also added LED interior lighting. Here's my simple Missing Link-3/4" EMT with the ends crushed, using the existing LCA bolts. Then My Approach Lighting Project- 2 KC Cyclone LED Rock Lights bolted into the old running board holes, and a KC C2 Scene/Area light attached to the bumper. The lights can be all off, or manually on at any time, or set in an auto position that triggers when I'm in reverse or when I open any door, or come on when I unlock with my key fob. Straightforward idea that probably took too long original thread, wiring diagram at the top of post 84 (page 3): Wheels and Tires: 32x11.5r15 Falken Wildpeak AT3w's on 15x8 DX4 Gear Wheels. Love the look of the rims, and the tires more than do their job. Very happy with their performance thus far Manual Hubs: Mile Marker 435's. I broke a stud trying to get them on. That was a fun night I have an ongoing roof rack idea. I know a guy who is about to buy a welder, but if that takes too long maybe I'll just bolt it all together in a ghetto DIY kind of way. Original thread: Added a WD21 Skid Plate for the Transfer case, direct bolt on. Lately I've been messing around with the lack of black on white contrast, so the last week I've been doing some plasti-dipping. I also pulled a honeycomb grill and fuel door off of a black pathfinder. Did the fenders and the body below the doors in black. Still not sure what to do with the tabs under the headlights, I like the black a bit better. I would've kept the original grille, but it was in terrible shape. White on the honeycomb is gonna have to go, and the hood decal if kept needs to be redone in vinyl wrap. The black makes the vehicle look a little tougher and taller, so I was happy with that. White lettering on the fairing is a keeper. That's as far as I've made it so far, I've really appreciated the community and the help I've received thus far. Within the next week I'm hoping to start over on my suspension. OME HD coils and LR 9449's are hopefully in my future, along with finally replacing my shocks. Thanks for taking a look!

  5. Once again, I am doing a great job of keeping things updated. What have I done in the last few months? Well, not a lot really. Made a new overview video on my YouTube channel going over everything if you're interested (shameless self plug). I've now got a Rago molle panel in the trunk, unfortunately it does rattle a bit even with some foam added in key areas. Also got 5100's in the rear now and it flexes pretty nice. Swapped in some heated leather seats from a junkyard Limited model too (along with heated mirrors and some interior trim). Got the seats moving with minimal wiring, but getting the heated function going is gonna be more work for sure. Made a dune flag mount because I plan to get rad this summer. Also got a new windshield because I'm impatient and broke the original putting on a auto-dimming mirror. Set up an accessory fuse box to power the mirror, my CB, and anything else I may add, but it cut out before and now it's totally dead and I haven't tracked down the issue yet. I like having the wiring done properly, but realistically idk what else I'll add so maybe I'll just tap these two accessories in some place simple just so it works reliably. Last but now least, removed the exhaust after the y pipe over a month ago. Yeah it's ghetto and obnoxious, but it's fun and rumbly. (V8 baby ?) Probably going to get a Gibson stainless cat-back. That's all for now.

  6. Welcome! This place is a great resource and just generally a fun site to hang out on. We like pics around here, so share some of your rig! (You have to host them externally.)

  8. Yeah I don’t know why but Rockauto sometimes won’t display parts when you select “Infiniti QX4”. I usually check my exact vehicle first but if I don’t see the part I need then I check “Nissan Pathfinder”. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/nissan,1997,pathfinder,3.3l+v6,1212051,suspension,coil+spring,7512 I got the moogs.. they were cheap and made in USA. My car drives completely different now. Taking curves, coming to a stop, and acceleration are very noticeably better.

  9. The answer is yes Aaaand a little something to remember the trail. There’s now a random boulder with a nice red stripe on it in the middle of the woods now. Time to build some sliders! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. These are from Saturday last weekend. Notice something out of place here? I let my friend drive it so I could make sure the springs seated back in properly haha We got back kinda mid afternoon and hung out in the hammocks the rest of the day. No trees? No problem. The next day we went shooting and did some more wheeling and my buddy rode his dirt bike behind me once we were up in the mountains. Bilsteins doin work [emoji1377] And I’ve reached the picture limit so I’ll continue in another post Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  11. I don’t think my wife would say it was fast, I know she feels like I’ve been living in the garage the past couple of weeks! Sometimes it’s a blessing, and sometimes a curse, but when I get started on something I have a really hard time stopping. I’m more likely to just stay up and work through the night than to stop and go back to it the next day.

  12. Here is my stance now. It has a little rake in back, which is what I wanted to keep it level with weight in the back or when towing. I opted not to reinstall the air bags I was using with the stock springs because I don’t think these springs will compress enough to make them useful. I stood on the hitch, and it only dropped maybe 3/4 of an inch, and I weigh 220. That means it should easily handle the trailer I tow that only has about 180lb tongue weight and also have some gear in the back and still sit pretty close to level. The overall suspension set up on my truck as it sits now is Land Rover springs in the rear, and stock struts in the front with a 2 inch spacer. Just for fun, a comparison next to a stock Q in the Home Depot lot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
