  1. The kits are still being tested and refined but as of right now they include all stainless fasteners, rivnuts and the stiffener plate for the body mounted latch components to retrofit a Pathfinder that did not come with a swing gate with a used JY unit. There is the optional license plate relocation bracket for those that want it as well. This setup has not been tested on pre-face lifted Pathfinders or any QX4. You'll need to source a used swing gate and latch components from a JY or part out vehicle. Also, you'll need to rent or purchase a rivnut gun to install the threaded inserts. Given the total cost, when compared to a swing gate for a 4runner or universal unit from Smittybilt, JY swing gates are a great alternative.

  3. I think he was just saying we've not done an install with this method on a pre-facelift truck. It should be exactly the same because the carriers are coming from pre-facelift trucks. It should also "fit" QX4 trucks but the issue there is that the liftgate contour is different and the reverse lights are on the liftgate, not the tail lights. @malacandro If you want to make it happen here, I'd be up for that. I'll be doing @Astrorami's setup in the near future, though I'd like to let @TowndawgR50's continued R&D occur and apply those methods here when ready. They're a definite improvement on my original approach. Also, this is all great info! Be sure to add some stuff to the Tire Carrier thread (linked in my signature) if you've not already.

  4. Springs and spacers came in the other day. They look good, very robust! So far all I’ve done is trim the base of the spacer down a bit since I’m keeping my strut spacers and don’t need as much height as the whole spacer would have provided. Hopefully I’ll get some time to actually work on this tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. i am really having fun with my build. and it also surprises people wherever i go. you dont see pathfinder being used.most of them are jeeps and toyota. specially where i live it is saturated with them. everywhere you go thats all you see. i am lucky as all the parks ive been are all within 2 hrs of driving from where i live. i live almost at the center of everything up here in norcal. as you can i spent a lot of time on the SVRA from my first 2 yrs of owning the truck to get familiar with the rig and to mod it accordingly. thanks.

  7. So I've been looking into having some patches made up.Obviously.... NPORA(large lettering)Nissan pathfinder offroad assoc....(small lettering)...but what else?? Just text? WD21 or R50 maybe?? Thoughts? Laying out the design I can do but it's not just me here so ideas would be appreciated. What do y'all think?

  8. Start with the worst ones and strategize so you're not taking the same stuff apart twice. Stuff like the strut rods, sway bar bushings, and shocks can be gotten to pretty easily. If the front control arm bushings need doing, you're pulling a lot of stuff apart at once, so you might as do as much as you can while it's in pieces.

  9. Patches are definitely all the rage. They have the advantage of portability. Personally I like the classic oval with NPORA inside it.

  11. Are you sure it's the RMS? I thought I might have one, but I replaced the passenger side valve cover gasket (and passenger camshaft seal) and so far my leak has been gone! It was puddling up on the bottom of the bell housing as well.

  13. I'm a little confused, are the swing gate kits going to be everything you need to install a tire carrier? Or just parts to adapt a JY OEM tire carrier to a Pathy that didn't come with the OEM one?

  14. FINALLY!!! Managed to get some serious work done on my custom low profile winch bumper!! Happy will the result. Now I have to bend some tubes for the corners and finish the front skid plate AND paint it! (And fix my very messy wiring haha) Sent from my SM-A520W using Tapatalk

  15. Assuming the year in your profile is correct and it's still the factory engine, then the interval for a '94 is 100,000 miles... Technically 105,000 miles (per the '94 FSM), for the timing belt. As long as you're somewhat mechanically inclined, it's a pretty easy job especially with @5523Pathfinder's How To in The Garage

  17. I’ve ordered springs from them twice and both times the shipping has been super quick! I think you’ll really like the 9449’s.

  18. I rolled around with the same license plate bracket for a few weeks before@Towndawgr50 hooked me up with my custom plate bracket. The one I had was the prototype bracket and it worked flawlessly. No rattling of any kind honestly if you put a nice powder coat or anodized finish on it, it would look really great . It is a perfect way on mounting your plate and really easily running a light to it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  19. It is form fitting, clean & lets you run the illumination for the plate from the existing plate lights. Also, you can remove your swingate temporarily without having to redo the plate lighting.

  22. Went out for a little drive today and explored some new little hideouts. I'm now experiencing a new little problem (see below). When attempting to accelerate, uphill (under load), the RPMs will stall out around 2000rpm and either not increase, or struggle to increase. Depressing the accelerator pedal more can cause the RPMs to then jump to around 3000 and increase/drive like normal. The symptoms are a rough/intermittent stutter that pops every few seconds as it struggles to increase in RPM. No CEL (MIL), but I pulled the codes- P0302 (cyl 2 misfire) and P0325 (knock sensor). I cleared them and now need to go for another little drive to see if they throw again. They could be old... Well I fixed it. My new #2 spark plug had a gnarly crack going down two sides. Bought a new plug and it works great now. Glad it was a $2 fix!

  23. I bought a Bosch mini 3 gauge pack. Came with a temp gauge so instead of not using it I was going to install it anyway. The factory temp gauge works just fine. The top hose was the only place I could find to tap into the system. Still not complete. I got lazy. Some more pics of the brackets. Mr Cox 96R50-97JR50
