  1. Here's some photos of the rig's transformation from when I got her to the police cruiser stage, then to a good trail rig to the present day Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

  2. Alright so after 3 years and 55,000 miles later I decided to make a build thread of what I have done to my rig. Coming very soon (hopefully if the weather doesn't derail my plans) I should be adding and modifying my rig more and more. Since a lot has happened I'm just gonna do a real quick run through to what I have done with my truck. So to start off I got the truck my senior year of high school with 117K miles and was extremely clean. The next "mod" on the list was to murder it all black with tinted windows and plastidipping the rims black. Next thing I add was a brush guard but left the headlight wraps off just in case someone hit them in a parking lot for example and causing damage to the fenders if they were bent from the collision causing more damage. The next big thing I did was installing the OME coils, HD front and MD rear with Gabriel struts (they were on sale for a 100 bucks and I was broke but they still work lol). One week later I got my Bilstein 5125 shocks installed and the rig really remained the same for awhile. After awhile I was getting tired of the look of my rig and I wanted to make it look more unique. I put fluery's 1 inch spacer front and rear as the OME coils started to sag after lots of miles of trails and forest roads. I installed the Rola Rack with extension and attached it via electrical conduit clamps. Next I removed the brush guard because I saw it as a damage multiplier, killed my approach angle and took my tow hooks away, I then retrofitted the 30" lightbar in the bumper to make it more discreet and also it doesn't emit a whole lot of glare back to me. Next move was uping the tire size to a "32" with wheel spacers to clear the lower strut perch and give it some stance. I did the '00 grill mod with amber lights and added clear corners to make it more unique and lastly I added a side awning that I got on black Friday. Also worth noting, the worst thing I have ever experienced with this rig was replacing the coolant crossover pipe gasket on the back of the head between the firewall. It is almost impossible to get at with the little room you have in there. I luckily was able to achieve this feat probably because I have small hands and I literally crammed them in there as I wanted the leak gone and had everything off down to the block besides the heads. I'll post some pics about that mess later on. Like I said, lots of things happened to this rig so I'm just playing catch up on this thread so sorry for the scattered things. Here are some links of write ups I have done to the rig http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/44486-aux-backup-lights-frenched-in-rear-bumper/?tab=comments#comment-802193 http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/44487-rola-rack-and-mounts/?tab=comments#comment-802218 http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/44516-light-bar-and-raptor4runner-running-lights/ Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

  3. I have some parts that are sitting in my room and garage, the one that's coming very soon should be happening this weekend if I don't get snowed in lol.

  4. Went out to get dirty today and did just that. Absolutely loved these muddy/rocky trails. l Easily out wheeled my brothers 02 4runner, even with his fancy shmancy rear locker . Although when he gets his lift and tires it’ll be a different story. There were a couple of tricky spots such as the first pic and the pics when the truck was in this position, super slick as well. Most of the mud pits had ice on them which made them so much more fun! All in all It was a great day and I fell more in love with my pathfinder which I didn’t know was possible [emoji23]. On my way home I did find out something annoying... my drivers speaker is cutting in and out, it’s been doing it for awhile when I hit big bumps but today it was half way in and half way out so was making some weird noises every 20 mins or so. Annoying but I’m going to check the wires going to the speakers someday when the weather is nice. Just realized I have 3 of the same picture, oops!!

  5. No Pathfinder work this weekend, just a snowmageddon report. It's been coming down heavily all weekend, but that's made for some great explorin'! My Alaskan instincts kicked in and I spent the weekend driving around the Kitsap and eastern Olympic Peninsulas, just lookin' to get lost Put down about 300 miles in two days o_O Snow-driving video. More than a couple of these sightings... Silly dog tax-

  6. Update: I did the relearn process and after a few painful attempts I was able to get it to work. The vehicle has returned to normal RPM and I cleared the codes. Thanks to all for the advice I had never heard of any sort of process of resetting like this! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. Lots of information in these threads http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/forum/67-r50-faq39s-amp-pinned-topics/ I did a 2 inch spring lift from here 12 years ago https://www.4x4parts.com/c-1044800-nissan-suspension.html Here is my write-up of it http://colinnwn.blogspot.com/search/label/pathfinder I also put on manual locking hubs, so I could stop unnecessary wear on the front driveshaft. I've had zero trouble with it, besides riding harsh, in those 12 years and 100,000 additional miles. I'm at 260,000 miles today.

  13. Check out the YouTube filter comparisons where they cut them open. I was pretty surprised how bad the basic Fram are, especially when the much better ones are only like a dollar more. It was pretty eye opening.

  15. Why are you planning a carb swap? The VG33 will run with the VG30 EFI, that's why you keep the VG30 intake. If you do a carb swap you'll also need to modify your fuel system and re-do your ignition. JamesRich pulled off a carb swap on his, IIRC he used a milled down Chevy HEI? Might be worth tracking down that thread if you're set on playing this on hard mode. I hear you on the gunk in the plug wells. I pulled the upper intake off mine before changing the plugs just so I could clean out all the rat crap before pulling the plugs. Hopefully it's just got oil in a cylinder or something. When I was doing my timing belt, I was able to turn the crank with a 1/2" ratchet without too much difficulty, so it shouldn't be normal compression that's stopping you. Again I'd probably try and follow what Nefarious did rather than swapping cranks. I'm not 100% on this but I seem to remember his oil filter even cleared somehow? It was a long time ago that I read that, so don't quote me there. You could pick up the accessories and mounts you need (with the exception of the aircon pump, probably best to buy new there) at the wreckers for less than new parts, certainly less than new parts from a dealership. If you swap cranks you'll need the oil pump as well. IIRC you'll also need the oil pump pickup to go with the pan. I'd expect the VG30 pan to fit, not sure about the pickup though.

  17. Great news man! I know the feeling. The guy I bought my Quey from sad it had a miss and he couldn't figure it out it. It took me forever to find out what the problem was I replaced almost everything on the engine that I could think of and then decided to ask him when he had the timing belt changed he told me some Euro shop done it for him about 70k back. Decided to change it and low behold found my problem.. Mr Cox 96R50-97JR50

  18. Mine was one tooth off when I got it and as it barely staying running. I guess depends on which way the tooth was off. Mine was one tooth off between the right sprocket to the left and it started everytime. It would miss and the CEL would flash pouring raw gas into the catalytic converter'but it started everytime. When the light flashes it's time to park it utill the problem is fixedMr Cox 96R50-97JR50

  19. It wouldn't be a timing belt issue on that particular engine because the timing is extremely close and very unforgiving. Just one tooth off and it will barely stay running if it even starts. Two tooth off and you can pull the heads because it crashed the valves. I don't really know a whole a lot about automatic transmissions, but mine had a wire that had come loose in a plug on the side of the transmission and that thing was doing all kinds of crazy stuff until I got that wire fixed.

  20. Yes it's only when I'm cruising and it shifts into overdrive. It doesn't do it if I have the overdrive off. Mr Cox 96R50-97JR50

  21. From what I understand the drivetrain similarities are just in the transfer case, as far as how the AUTO mode operates. The overdrive is going to be totally contained in the transmission which (I believe) is roughly the same in Pathfinders all the way back to '88. I'm not an expert on Nissan drivetrains by any means though. Are you sure the vibration is only in overdrive?

  23. It's doing it on my 97 Quey. I know the QX4 shares the drivetrain that the skyline has but I really don't know anything about it and how it works I guess I need to get underneath it and look to see if everything is tight Mr Cox 96R50-97JR50

  24. Not sure on Pathfinders, but I know on 4Runners that's a sign of the torque converter dying...not sure if something else could be a factor.

  25. Great answer my man. I'm having a vibration when shifting into overdrive MJ do you know what might be causing that? Mr Cox 96R50-97JR50
