1. I'm torn! Love @hawairish's ride (and the amazing work he does to benefit this community & our rigs), but I'm in love with how clean and well put-together @02_Pathy

 2. Here is the summary I have to date. (BTW, I have the 9448s as I'm headed towards a 3-4" SFD - not put on yet. I'm pairing them with an ARB OME Heavy Duty Front setup-also not put on yet. I'll post when it's done. I re researched purchase options & LR Direct was still the best. I paid $85 on Fri 10/12 & got them in Eastside Seattle Mon 10/15.) 3. Agree. I know both owners some and both are good guys. @02_Pathy rig is beautiful but there are very few other Paths out there as nice as thoroughly & thoughtfully modified ashawairish. BTW, the vote buttons don’t show up on TapaTalk which is what I use 90% of the time.

 4. That was gonna be my guess. My sister's Volvo had 3 go out back to back in the space of a month. Every time it's the flashing CEL with a constant misfire. I keep a spare coil pack and a ratchet in the trunk now since I'm pretty sure mine are all original.

 5. Start researching VG33 mods. Some people bore out to 3.4l and stay NA, others add the turbo. You can also get adjustable cam gears and a bunch of other stuff if you know where to look.

 8. Well I'd be interested in learning more about these mods...

 9. If you have a VG33 there is. Get a turbo manifold off an old Z31 turbo and put a turbo on it. The engine also responds well to being intercooled, bigger injectors, bigger fuel delivery... I had a 88 z31 with a VG30ET that was 400hp at the wheels.

 10. The fact the R50 is actually a car/cross over not an SUV/truck. I am a Nissan Z guy so when I decided to replace my suburban I was naturally drawn to Nissan. I got my pathy with an engine I was already familiar with for way less than an Xterras with similar miles. It was only later that I discovered that the reason the price point was so good is because its not actually a SUV/truck but a car. If the R50 was made today it would be called a cross over; unibody construction, soft car style suspension and suspension tuning, open diff, almost no room to put bigger tires on.... its a car. I've turned mine into a respectable 4wd rig, but a lot of money went to things a real 4wd would have handled from the factory.

 11. That was the case for me too. I did a bunch of mods but never used 4WD at higher speeds other than crawling on trails, so I didn’t know there was a problem until later. One of the problems with a high CV angle is that the front end lifts a little bit under torque, which causes and even more severe angle for the axles to put up with. While not enough to bind, it’s still pushing the limits of their smoothest operating range. Thats a har one to troubleshoot though.

 13. I think the idle is just a QD thing, dad's has always been rough. Here's a pic side by side

 15. Check for a code with a scanner or do the manual check with a CEL flash count before spending any money.

 16. Aha! I wondered if there were any active Christchurch members. Some people say my truck is too tidy.. Mine isn't a limited either, the leather came from a wrecked facelift R50 in Dunedin. Fun fact - I owned the full leather interior well before I bought the truck, knowing it'd be hard to find a good, tidy diesel limited. Well worth it 'cos I can't stand the cloth interior haha. Now to find some HID headlights and digital climate control. I'd have to agree though, great trucks. Have also only ever had basic servicing, the previous owner had it serviced every WOF, and she owned it for 10 years or so. Does have a bit of a shaky idle though, probably because of the aftermarket engine mounts. From 3k to 340k is impressive!

 17. I finally had some time to spend installing my lightbar today. It’s not wired up but it is mounted. Wondering around the hardware store today I came across some hinges for a door in the house and thought I might could re-purposed that. Using a saw Zaw I cut off the loops ground off the rough edges and painted it. I think it looks pretty good. Hey trip to Ace Hardware and I was able to spend a few bucks and find some nuts and bolts that worked and here we are. Now I just need to learn to solder so I can wire up the harness.
